Great book
Why Amazon insist on 20 words for a review via kindle, I don't know. Especially when I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book.

Disappointing
This was a rough read. I held off leaving a review on the first book in this series hoping the second might pull me in more but unfortunately it just left me with more of the same feeling. The "what did I just read?" feeling. The biggest letdown of these books is the romance... it's almost superfluous. The background plot and scenes were the only things keeping my attention. I'm curious to see where it goes but not curious enough to put myself through another book in this series. It's very disappointing as the writing style and technique were quite good, even beautiful at times. But this is only part of a good book, and I read romance books, especially smutty romance books, for an engaging and enjoyable love story... which did not exist in either book in this series. The characters were boring with no real development and somehow makes these wild leaps in their love story that make absolutely no sense. It's like reading a romance between a tea bag and a toaster, and I couldn't follow it for the life of me.Another problem I had, and it's a big pet peeve to me when authors do this, is the author kept mixing up the protagonists' characteristics. She had blue eyes first, then brown, then blue again. Come on, if you can manage to get super sexy snakes down, but not remember the humans' eye colour.. this just feels like a face-plant moment. There were other examples of this throughout the two books of this series that I read, but this one sticks out the most.A thorough editing is needed and maybe a rewrite of the characters. Other than that I don't know what can fix this series but I so wish it does. As I said earlier the author's writing style is quite good, and her general plot and idea... it's her characters that have let her down big time.

All Hail the King!
All hail the king! This guy is the funniest snake you will ever meet. He is so full of himself but in the most endearing way. I can imagine all the nagas having a party and he starts griping about something because he is The King and Daisy just pats his arm and says, “Of course you are dear.” Also all the snakes are wearing party hats and eating cheese on sticks.Anyway, this book tells the story of Daisy and Zaku. It overlaps with book one (Viper) and it helps if you read that book to understand what’s going on.Zaku is really just very lonely and he just needs someone to hug him and love him and tell him he is a very magnificent Naga. I volunteer as tribute because he melted me into goo with his silliness and how much he cared for Daisy.Daisy actually goes through a real character arc from The Crying One to a pretty badass character who will fight for what she believes in and the people she cares for. I really liked her as a character and she made a great partner for Zaku, gentle to his bristling dominance and able to show him in a caring, thoughtful and selfless light that he needed to be likeable. At times the plot was filled with angst and wow Daisy in particular was put through some things. This made the storyline more complex than book one but that was good because not only did I connect with the characters and their motivations more, but it was also more of a page turner! We also got to spend way more time in the romance part of the relationship and it was SO GOOD. I am fanning myself. I am overcome. Plus they are adorable!I can’t wait to read the rest of this series! It’s not yet complete with more books coming out this Spring (exciting!)Themes:KnottingEnemies to loversNaga x humanHurt/comfortPheromonesHeatTail playCaptor/captive
