1/2" Female NPT in-Line Strainer
We installed this to protect the pump on our 65 gallon portable watering tank. We catch rainwater in IBC tanks then transfer it to the portable tank. The #40 mesh seems to be about the right size for this. When the tanks develop algae, chunks of it that come loose can clog the pump. We do have screened gutter and a screen in the inlet of the IBC tank to prevent trash from getting in the tanks. The screen requires cleaning every few loads because it develops a layer of algae if the tanks have not been cleaned recently. Our transfer pump got damaged because something inadvertently got in the portable tank and got caught in the pump causing it to run with excess load so this was installed. The screen is simple to clean, just screw off the plastic cup, remove the screen and flush it with water.

Good product, but not for boat intakes
I though this product was bigger that it was as I wanted to use it as a boat strainer. It is definitely smaller, so can’t use it for that application. However, the quality is very good, so I decided to keep it as a raw water strainer for a shower pump.

It leaked at first, stopped later
Update: the small drip stopped after roughly a week. Bringing this to 4 stars now. I do like the clear bowl allowing a visual. This is a good item. This item leaks around the threads of the bowl no matter what. I put at least 20 wraps of plumbers tape and there’s still a slow drip. The water line is under 30-35 psi, well within the 150 psi range of this filter. The leak is about 2 oz in 10 mins of operation. I’m going to keep it and replace it after this grow is over. It’s manageable but I’d rather it not drip

Works okay, will buy another
I bought 2 of these filters for a CNC plasma water table circulation system. As you can see one became brittle and cracked and the other has held together. I’m not sure how this happened, neither are exposed to any pressure because of the way they are added in the circuit. Maybe the one that broken was a defect, I’ll buy another and see if it does the same. Other than that they work as intended
