Works Great!
First you must use a quality cleaner to get your item looking its best BEFORE using this product. It goes on evenly (good spray quality) if you spray light coats and let dry well between each coat. Only takes a couple coats and so far no tarnishing after 4 months on my brass and pewter.

Protects brass from tarnishing very well. Keeps is shiny.
After spending several hours polishing a very tarnished brass music stand, I wasn't ready to ever have to polish it again some other day in the future. So I bought this stuff. Its easy to spray it on too thick and get runs, which aren't too major of a problem, but spraying several light coats prevents the drip and run issue while making your object look a little better. This stuff works very good on every type of bare CLEAN metal and not brass only. One can goes a long ways and you probably wont use it up just doing two or three objects unless they are huge. I made the mistake of spraying a small object in the house and the fumes are SO BAD I greatly regretted that mistake. Hours later I had to open the windows because the noxious fumes weren't fading as expected and I couldn't stand it any longer and was getting a real headache. After that everything else that needed to be sprayed, went outdoors to my shed for spraying. The stickiness goes away in less than 30 minutes, but for those 30 minutes you want to protect it from floating debris in the air, leaves, dust, lint etc, as it will get caught and captured in the drying lacquer coat. But this stuff is great if you use it right and give it the respect it needs.

Works on brass
This lacquer works great over polished brass. Doesn't seem to dull the shine whatsoever and has no effect on the brass color hue or lustre. Don't make my mistake and try to clear coat brass or other metals with a box store acrylic clear or whatever. I used a common brand on my lamps after a thorough polishing on the buffing wheels to a perfect shine. Looked okay after spraying, but took a bit of the brilliance away. Over time however the clear started reacting with the brass, developing tiny foam looking bubbles in the coating, in addition, the brass is now tarnishing.. Bummer. Used this lacquer and it went on flawless with no issues. Perfectly clear, no bubbles, or tarnishing so far... I recommend this.

Seems to Do the Job
Hard to tell if this spray is any better than clear lacquer. It is supposed to include tarnish preventer but it cannot be proven until it ages... and then it would still be questionable if it did better than simple clear lacquer. I note this because the cost is nearly double over normal lacquer, but since cleaning tarnish from outdoor fixtures is tedious, it was worth a try in small quantity (i.e. 1 can only). It did dry fast and evenly and provided a good overall finish.
