Essential Collection

This is a repackaging by Avid in their Essential Collection format of an earlier 2-CD set of bass singer Peter Dawson. It's a well thought out three-part compilation, which presents Favourite Songs & Ballads (including "The Floral Dance", "The Song of the Flea" "Boots" and "On the Road to Mandalay"): Oratorio, Opera and Lieder: and songs by Elgar, Stanford, Vaughan Williams, Coleridge-Taylor and Bantock. The recordings all fall between the mid-twenties and the late thirties, accompaniments include Clifford Greenwood, George Byng, Ray Noble, Barbirolli and Sargent, and the quality of remastering is first-rate.
