nice for occasional routing.
it’s a bargain router. be careful and it will serve you well. I think the quality is great for price and imagine it will hold up for me doing the occasional small job.

Decent Value Trimmer
This is a decent value addition to your workshop/ tool box as long as you know what you’re getting. This is not a precision tool. It’s also not nearly as powerful as an actual palm router, so don’t mistake this tool for that even though it looks a lot like one. If you just want this unit for the purpose of trimming, it would come in handy in that you won’t have to break out your full-sized router for it and not as much bit changing. Changing the bit on this trimmer isn’t horrible, but it’s a little more involved because there’s a second wrench for locking the collet nut rather than a button that does it for you. Again, this is a value trimmer. All in all, I’d recommend it only if that’s the tool you’re looking for. Honestly, for only about 60 bucks more, you can get an actual palm router that does what this router can and can’t do. So, weigh your options and consider increasing your budget. One star off because there was a little burr on the adjustment knob that cut the crap out of my middle finger. Inspect before using.

Got the tool…so what will it do? No instructions
This is a light duty mini router for home use. The 8.25” tall and is 3” in diameter. It has a transparent plastic base that can be adjusted up and down with a plastic thumbscrew. It has a 50” long power cord that terminates in a standard North American 3-prong plug. It comes with 2 metal pieces that appear to be guides and a 3rd metal piece with plastic knobs on 2 planes. Plus 2 basic wrenches and 2 replacement brushes for the motor. The tool comes in a plastic hinged storage case. An instruction booklet in Chinglish is included.I am excited by the possibilities of this tool. From the online product photos, I think this tool will help me create the finished edges I would like on my woodworking projects. However, I haven’t used a router before, and I’m finding the instructions in the manual completely indecipherable. The manual warns “Don’t stretch hand too long, always watch your step and balance. This accident cases can be a very good control machine.” So that makes me a bit nervous since I don’t have a clue what it means. There are no actual usage instructions at all in the manual, no instructions about how to put a bit in (no bits are included), or how to use the guides. They have some maintenance instructions, “Shearing machine for the first time to use the air in cylinder should be ruled out before, quick joint connection to clean the dust and dirt on the joint, before use to should take put down gently, not collision phenomenon. Use to packing after save, placed in dry, temperature is appropriate. Special note: tubing for use for a long time are prone to aging, often should check the replacement maintenance on a regular basis.” Oh brother—what do I need to do before I turn this on? I would really like to try this machine out, but first I need to do some Youtube research to learn how to use a router and maybe even find a friend who can show me. From what I can see, this is a really light duty tool. The plastic foot doesn’t look very rugged, and the steel casing on the tube arrived scratched from shipping. Overall, this tool looks like a lot of fun, but if you don’t already know how to use a router, this is a tough place to start.

Actually for the price it's a pretty nice lighter duty unit.
I was surprised in the nice yet how small the case was that it came in. This is somewhat larger than my Porter Cable laminate trim router, but I sort of put in the same category. It comes with a 1/4" collet and shaft so it will not take 1/2" bits which is good so it doesn't take on something too aggressive. It is relatively quiet yet spins up to a nice high speed. The measuring depth marks on the side of the router are probably metric, but if you measure in between the larger lines, it is 3/8". It's more of a relative positioning marker.I thought it was nice that it came with an extra set of brushes for the motor. I have never bought a router that had that. Eventually brushes do wear out but that shouldn't happen too readily. It also comes with various edge guide accessories, as well as two wrenches.I have to take a moment and reflect on just how usable this device may be no matter how well equipped your shop is. I have my Porter Cable laminate 1/4" trim router pre-mounted with a 1/8" round over bit, set at just the right height. I find that so many projects, even if you are ripping just plywood, go from raw looking to refinery finished just by zipping around over bit around the edges. This would be an ideal candidate to do that same thing. Of course, it is a general-purpose router. The cool thing is that there are 1/4" complete imported router bit sets available with a wide array of bit types for not much money. They aren't Freud or Whiteside but rather a no name import, but it is really nice to have the right type of profile bit when you need one; something that would cost you a fortune in the name brands. So, with this router, and a large inexpensive bit package you could be set for many purposes. The base is clear plastic and not heavy duty, so don't drop it, but sturdy enough to do the job very well. Adjusting the height is unique in that you unscrew the thumbwheel until the center barrel becomes loose, and then just slide it up and down freely to the "proper" setting. My Makita has a swing closed clamp to achieve that, and you spin the barrel which enables some finer tuning adjustments. That doesn't mean you can't fine tune this one, it just takes some creative thinking to work out a system for doing so.Overall, I really like this router. I am going to keep it in the garage with a round over mounted, and a spare 1/4" bit set handy. My basement woodworking shop has it all, but having one handy in the garage is nice so I don't have to go up and down the steps every time I need one. Highly recommended.

Ridiculous Description photos
First off, one of the photos in this ad shows how to replace the carbon brush, but they don't supply an extra one. Like most routers and rotary tools do. It also shows photos showing it's many uses but one is of popsicle sticks house...what the heck can you use a palm router on popsicles? Another photo shows an intricate flower design carved in wood...by hand, with hand carving tools. No way in heck this palm router was used to do this. Didn't come with an instruction manual. Doesn't come with any bits. Usually one would think that they would give you one bit to get started with. Maybe I got a returned router?
