CEH Certified Ethical Hacker All-in-One Exam Guide, Third Edition Review: Although I especially found the Boson exams helpful (and I highly recommend those as well) - I recently took and passed the CEH exam and used this book along with the iLabs and the Boson exam simulator. Although I especially found the Boson exams helpful (and I highly recommend those as well), after taking the exam, I feel that this book covers the material well enough to pass on its own. I was contemplating whether or not to give this book four or five stars as I must warn that I did find a good handful of errors but if you already have Security+ knowledge, they are easy enough to spot. The biggest reason why I decided to give this a 5 star rating is because of the way that the author conveys the material. I've taken many certification exams and have read through many certification books and this is honestly the best one I've used so far. The author manages to keep the material interesting and even entertaining and condenses everything to make it an easy read. This was a huge breath of fresh air after attempting to read the official ECC course material. The book claims that even though it is an AIO that you can't get everything you need from just one book. My opinion is that, although you can't get everything you need to become a true ethical hacker from one book, many could probably pass the exam by using just this one book. When I took the actual exam, the difficulty ended up being much lower than expected and the questions felt very familiar in comparison to what's in this book. The only thing that you might need to venture a little outside is to make sure that you study a broad spectrum of tool commands (Nmap being the most important). However, I feel that I would have still easily passed the exam even if I had missed a bunch of the Nmap questions. Review: Great Text - I was using the online self paced course from EC Council. I'm not 1 to study from 1 source and I have to say that this is one of the most interesting texts I have ever read. The author's writing style is pretty hilarious and makes the text a pleasure to read. This book has helped me to fill in certain gaps that I had and I feel like I'm about 80% there. All I have left to do are some labs, some practice tests and a quick run through of this text again and I will be sure to pass. PS When I was halfway through the material I took a mini test and I scored 50%. While that may not sound great I was halfway through the material. So its a good look

Excellent reference and prep for the CEH
With the exception of practice exams, this book was an excellent prep for the exam, and taught deeper than any practice exam for the long run.

Great Learning textbook
This isnt your run if the mill exam. PLEASE make sure that you have a cert or 2 before attempting this. The book expects you to know some fundamental knowledge, if you dont know it...your setting yourself up for failure. The author has comedy when talking, keeps reading interesting.

Overall a good study guide
This was my primary guide for studying for the CEH exam. While the chapters do not line up one-to-one with the objectives (which can be annoying when using this alongside other study materials), this book does cover all the objectives pretty well. I used this to study, and the Boson exams to identify weak areas where I needed to focus more on. While the CEH is not the most exciting subject, this book definitely helps out.

Please don't waste your money!
This book is a complete waste of time. Matt Walker apparently has a few issues with EC Council, and verbalized it in every chapter. Every single chapter has wasted pages in conflict of EC Council. Instead of writing a relevant CEH book, Walker spends 80% of the book on unnecessary rants. Don't waste your money! The Sybex book is 100 times better. If it is left to Matt Walker, you will fail the CEH exam. I can't believe that this book was actually released. Unbelievable! The appendix is the best part of the book.

Best book out there for CHE hands down
Best book out there for CHE hands down. The labs, while kinda basic, help reinforce how the tools work. Look at the syntax of everything. Have fun with them. They are fun btw. CEH van be hard to study for but this combo helps

This is exactly what I was looking for: a well written compilation of all the theory for the CEH exam. But be aware that this is not a praxis book for learning how to hack. It does not show you how to use tools nor does it provide practical exercises. Only 4 stars because of some mistakes in Chapter 9 - review questions. Also the topic session hijacking is distributed all over the book: side jacking and session fixation are not described in chapter 9 under session hijacking but in earlier chapters. besides that, really good

Great Book! Believe it or not it make your study much more enjoyable. Well written and well explained with lots of tips. I'am passing my exam in a few months I'll update my review accordingly! ;-) Great addition to your study honestly.

Well laid out book. It does assume some pre existing network knowledge but it is fairly well focused on preparing for the exam rather than educating the reader.

I really liked how the book was structured with delivering the information. It helped to reinforce the knowledge and was also a good read which was very different from a normal text book. Book helped me pass my exam :)

What a good read. Very well written and easy to digest. Covers everything you will need for the exam. Yes, it's v9 and the exam is V10 but not worth paying the extra £20 for one more chapter
