Premier Optics and an Unbeatable Warranty
This is my first time buying a pair of heavy duty binoculars above the 1k price point, and they spent over a year in my cart before I opted to buy. I weighed these against the Swarovski SLC 10x42, with points going to the Swarovski for their size, weight, and reviews of the sharpness of the image and vivid color transmission. For me, what sold the Sig’s was the quality of the optics paired with an unbeatable warranty. I don’t plan to be rough on these, but it is nice to know that any accident, any failure, will be repaired completely without question.I have had several opportunities to use these at beaches, in the mountains, and in varying light conditions. These are a bit on the heavy side, but very well balanced with a nice tacky rubberized grip. The controls are exceptionally well made, with a smooth focus week, and eye relief cups that have detents that click in place as you rotate to your preferred setting. The image is crisp, with vivid color transmission. I could tell the color of a woman’s handbag at over a miles distance. I was shocked at how clear the image appeared in hazy or dusty conditions, and how easy it was to distinguish same colored objects from one another. The weight of the binoculars does make it harder to keep a stable image, but if you are going for observation over a longer period you are probably packing a tripod. The description doesn’t reference it, but the front knob of the hinge where the logo is unscrews to allow for an offset tripod mount. The package comes with a decent carry case (unpadded), and a good quality padded neck. There are removable front and rear covers for the lenses. One thing about the covers on the front, they can be hard to place as they form an airtight seal that can create resistance by forming a pocket of air when you put them on. That being said, when the covers are on you can rest assured the lenses are protected. All in all, I love these, and use them every chance I get. If you are on the fence and wished someone had reviewed them, I hope this helps. If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help.
