This ended up being too small for my 8 year old so she couldn’t wear it as part of her costume. It’s good quality but I would recommend for a younger child.

Actually surprised the hat fit. I am an adult. I have a 21" head & the hat was just the right size. It felt a bit short, as I wanted my head to fit deeper but overall it stayed in it's place.I bought this hat to build a costume hat. Our team theme was Moby Dick & my character was the ship. So I built a boat hat & this hat was sturdy enough to hold it all together!! In fact, I wore the hat all day & it didn't get beat up or fall apart! I can rewear the hat for another costume!!The hat is made of a sturdy felt. It gets warm!!!I bought 2 other hats similar to this one & returned all of them except this one. It wasn't flimsy, stayed on my head & required minimal upkeep throughout the day. I would recommend this product for costume use.

I ordered this hat for my 9 year old daughter who was portraying historical figure Francis Scott Key in the school's wax museum. It looked great and would work for any costume related to the colonial area. It would also make a great hat for a pirate costume. This is apparently sized for adults, but it did fit fine on my daughter. It had enough room though that it would also fit average adults as well. It is a nice sturdy hat, not flimsy and we will be able to repurpose it for other dress up opportunities. I was very pleased with the overall quality of this product and recommend it for anyone looking for a colonial or pirate hat.

These are huge and for that reason does not stay well on the head. The material is also so poor, And rigid, That if you try to close the buttons, they pop open on their own.

Sturdy and as described. My son plays with this all the time and it's not destroyed yet. He runs across the yard yelling, "The red coats are coming". He's the most early American history obsessed 6 year old I've ever known. Fun fact: Sybil Ludington was 16 and she rode twice as far as Paul Revere to gather her fathers troops because the red coats were burning down the town of Danburry. She rode her horse Star from farm house to farm house in the rain, sneaking past bandits. It was a 40 mile trip, and she was able to gather 400 men from her fathers militia.

We purchased this for my seven-year-old's Thomas Jefferson costume. It's the perfect size for him. We glued in a ponytail (of white yarn) at the back instead of having him wear a separate wig. It is surprisingly sturdy for the price, & will definitely go in the dress-up box after Halloween - it would work for any colonial-type costume or a pirate costume as well.What I wasn't expecting... 1) The sides of the hat are held to the crown with heavy duty snaps, which is not shown in the pictures. After some (fairly gentle) play, the interior piece of the snap (on the crown) pulled out of the hat material, so the snaps don't work as intended. However, it doesn't really affect the look of the hat - the sides still stay folded up, so it's not a big deal. 2) The gold trim includes quite a bit of colored threads as well. The trim is much more colorful than I expected. But we still like it.Overall it was a good purchase, & my son loves it. We'd buy it again. I am giving it four stars based on the fact that the appearance was a bit different than the picture (snaps, more colorful trim), & also because the snaps did not hold up. But it is still perfectly usable & definitely worth what we paid for it.

Our organist at church plays for three different churches. I bought the tricorner hat for her and put the names of each of the churches on it. It was a big hit with everyone.

Its good, but its not a REAL pirates hat.
