hot
This guy is hot and smoking. I play a little slide myself, but nowhere as hot as this. I plan to steal a few of his riffs.

Smokin' debut from a one-of-a-kind guitarist who is UNDERAPPRECIATED!!
I predict that Eric Sardinas is a future Van Gogh of music--his talent will not be appreciated until long after he's gone. He's a one-of-a-kind guitarist with jaw-dropping abilities. I'll go so far to compare him to Jimi Hendrix, at least to a degree. He hasn't turned the music world on its ear like Hendrix did, obviously, but he has taken dobro styled blues guitar to a whole new level. At any rate, legendary Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer did produce Sardinas' third album, Black Pearls. I'm sure Sardinas' talent did ring a few old bells with Kramer. This album is filled with ATTITUDE--blazing electric dobro riffs and scorching vocals! Eric doesn't have a classic blues vocal style, but he can turn on a raspiness that complements the fire of his guitar. But don't stop with his CDs. After you buy every one of his CD's you MUST see him in concert. I saw him in 2004, and I could not believe his technique on the guitar in that concert. It was twice as incredible as anything on his CD's, and that is saying a helluva lot. I cannot put into words how he played some of those solos--it's useless. You just have to see it to believe it.Eric's timing in the music scene today is TERRIBLE--no fault of his own, obviously, he was just born too late. Such a talent probably would have been much more appreciated in the mid 60's or mid to late 80's, when blues/rock was enjoying revivals in popularity. At least he's still touring and making a living utilizing his enormous talent, though--hopefully he will come to a venue near you soon!

from a blues guitarist's view:
Eric's rocky slide-playing is like a never drying fountain of frantic, unorthodox blues licks. Like the early Vaughan he mixes rhythm and solo all in one or better to say: he changes very quickly between bass-groove and high single-note playing. Same with his confusing mix of slide-notes and finger-notes. Too fast for your ear to follow. Too groovy for your feet to keep from tapping. But forget about that academic classification of "rhythm" and "solo". Even his solo playing is more groovy than many "rhythm guitarists" play. And the band's timing is VERY tight and professional. Sardinas always hits the beat - his licks never loose their way, they never "die out" in the certain somewhere.Check this guy out - he pushes the blues' horizons far into the future and at the same time reminds the listener on almost forgotten blues-roots. As blues is always in danger of getting boring when played without passion "Treat me right" is an example of how to keep such an album colourful. Within the distorted electric dobro sounds there is always some acoustic stuff now and then. And you have some acoustic percussion effects in some songs, like foot tapping, knocking on the corpus or even a slapping acoustic bass, sun records style. So, is it really all great? Is he God? No, not yet. He definitely has to work on his slow-blues. The long breath is missing, if you know what I mean. It is all too nervous somehow. Not really mature, not really adult. Yes, the slow stuff is the point where Sardinas does not compare to Vaughan at all. And the voice? Well, this is a question of taste. A bit like Johnny Winter (who I prefer playing instrumentals). But lets put it this way: We do not buy a CD by a fantastic guitar virtuoso to expect a fantastic voice, right? My favourites: cherry bomb, goin' to the river, I can't be satisfied, sweetwater bluesnot so good: tired of tryin' (with Johnny Winter), murdering blues, low down love, get along rider

This Album ROCKS!
I didn't know who Eric Sardinas is till I saw him open for Steve Vai a number of years ago. He caught my attention, then he came through town again, so I decided to go with a buddy. I must say, he was awesome! He has rekindled my love for the blues with his electric dobro sound that is bigger than life. After the show i picked up this album and it was awesome, absolutely loved it.If you don't know who Eric Sardinas is, this is a good album to start with. Slide guitar and the blues never rocked so hard.
