This is a 5-pound box of heavily packed premium Alder chips.

I am glad to get the larger box. I use a charcoal grill, so my process is to soak the chips a few minutes as the grill lights up, sprinkle a generous portion on the coals, then immediately place the grate on and the meat. I close the lid leaving it slightly ajar for the smoke to escape slowly without smothering the fire.The flavor of maple is amazing on pork, and also chicken. Has a sweet maple syrup like note in the air when grilling. That also is the underlaying flavor of the smoked meat.I also use this with vegetables and it turns out well. I think so far I've used it on corn and stir fry mixes in my cast iron skillet on the grill.

Only took a few weeks!!! Good thing I didn't need it sooner!!!

These imparted a nice flavor to my ribs this summer (I soaked about 2/3 of the amount I used each time in water for 30 minutes and then added the other 1/3 dry). I made ribs a lot this year but I still have some left for next summer and won’t hesitate to buy these again.

I would prefer it to come in a bag. Oh well.

A generous portion of alder wood chips. Great value for the money. This is the first time I've used alder to smoke meat. I couldn't be more pleased with the results - the flavor was gentle and mild, accentuating the meat rather than taking over.

Your best bet for smoking salmon.

Smoked some salmon on the BBQ, these worked great, and good value for the size of package. They are just loosely packed in the box though
