Q: What is this difference between this product (ss-201) and the seki edge stainless steel nail scissors (ss-205)?

SS-201 scissors are suitable for cutting thin or soft nails. They have a serrated cutting edge that grips while you cut your nails. No slippage while cutting plus more precise control. They are straight while the SS-205 has a curve to follow the nail curvature.

Q: does this have the solid roller or wire-wrapped one? I have one of both by Seki and prefer solid one.

By "roller", do you mean the flip-up piece that holds the handles apart? If so, mine is a heavy wire loop. I've never had any problems with it; it's quite sturdy. I purchased mine five years ago, though, so I don't know if the design or materials have changed at all.

Q: Can these be used left-handed effectively?

Yes, they work the same left and right handed. For me it is a dexterity issue. I am not as good cutting with my left hand.

The SS-201 has a micro-serrated edges on the blades, so the blades grip the nails and do not slide over the surface and then cuts the nails very well. The SS-301 is a cuticle nipper which is a totally different edge no serrations on the cutting edges and is very effective in removing cuticles. Totally different types.
