Gimbals Licorice Scottie Dogs Red 2 Pounds

I have been disappointed before when thinking I was ordering the original red licorice Scottie dogs and receiving an awful tasting strawberry substitute that even the kids wouldn’t eat. These are the real deal - the original great tasting red licorice flavored and chewy textured dogs. Although a bit spendy with added shipping, if you are craving the red dogs these are great - soft, fresh and tasty!

My hubby was addicted to red vines until her was diagnosed with celiac disease. My friend told me about these and we order them all the time! He loves them!

This is NOT the original recipe, that is shown in picture! This does NOT taste at all like red licorice. It has the flavor of diluted strawberry wax and texture is gooey, sticking all over teeth! My family and I were excited, thinking we were getting the product pictured and purchased this disgusting product! We would give negative stars if it was possible! I just wish I would have known this was not returnable and I certainly don’t need to be reminded that I bought it once and have it suggested to buy again :(

If you have gone gluten free, licorice may be one of those treats you thought you wouldn't get to try again. There are lots of commercially available breads and cookies, not so much in the way of traditionally wheat laden candy. I enjoy the flavor and texture of these, they are more comparable to a super rope than a red vine if that helps. Just a caution, the bag is gigantic and unless you are having a gluten free party, it would be difficult to consume all of the little licorice dogs before they become stale (at which point the texture is not so enjoyable).

If you're looking for the red licorice Gimbal's Scottie Dogs, I ordered these in December 2019 and they were still the real deal (not the fake gummy replacement.) I'm very excited to find a new source for these that is gluten free and tastes so much like red licorice.

It's hard to find a licorice that has a great taste and like the traditional kind without the gluten. This is defiantly one of the best flavor and quality Licorice I have found out available. It may not be the cheapest, but compared to many others out there it has them beat in flavor and texture. Excellent product glad I found these little scotties. They filled that licorice gap I had been missing.

After going gluten free about a year ago, I was heartbroken to discover that licorice had wheat in it. I was excited to try this licorice. It was ok, but I wouldn't order it again. It tastes similar to Red Vines (I've always preferred Twizzlers) and it was stickier than normal licorice, so it really stuck to my teeth something fierce. I think the shape of these is really cute, but it looks like I won't be eating any good licorice any time soon.
