SHADOW AND BONE TRILOGY BOXSET : Bardugo, Leigh: desertcart.in: Books Review: Skeptical at first; thoroughly proven wrong! - This series has been such a pleasant surprise. I've been curious about the Grishaverse and had read a sample chapter of Six of Crows, I knew SoC was right up my alley but I wanted to read all the books chronologically (it's a problem; I'm working on it). I was skeptical about Shadow and Bone since it's marketed as YA and I'm more of an adult fantasy reader. I was NOT disappointed. Shadow and Bone features all the standard tropes of bad YA: it's got a supposedly plain-Jane-but-super-powerful gullible protagonist, a ridiculously well-written villain, and a convenient love triangle to boot. Despite all this, the story WORKED. And I am so glad I kept reading to Book 2, because that's when things get INSANELY good. Book 3 is spectacular in this regard as well. I devoured these books over 4 very manic days, and I don't regret it one bit. Definitely consider buying this trilogy if you're looking for a dark yet entertaining foray into younger-themed fantasy. The box set is nice for a collector's item, but the box itself arrived slightly damaged in my case -- fortunately the books within were perfectly intact. A note about the books received in this version - definitely consider investing in this boxed set because each of the books has a little bonus story/POV chapter. It's also got a few pages of author interviews and discussion questions (which I didn't find very helpful since the discussion points seemed a little like school assignments). But the bonus chapter/snippet at the end of each book was amazing and really appreciated. The covers are also really pretty, worthy of collectors items except for the ugly (permanent) Netflix stickers that are always seen on these soon-to-be Netflix series books. I must really commend the book art designer though as these covers were stunning aside from the Netflix promotion! Review: Definitely go for it! - This book combo is an absolute steal at this price! The quality of content is outstanding, and the value it offers is unmatched. Whether you're a student, an avid reader, or someone seeking to enhance your knowledge, this set is fully worth every penny. Don’t hesitate—this is a deal you shouldn't miss. Definitely go for it!

Worth reading. But still over priced in my opinion
Quality is good. Bought from GOODREADS BOOKSTORE and the boxset came all the way from Hyderabad to Mathura in a very good condition. About the book: I really enjoyed reading this after watching the first season of the show on Netflix. Of the various popular YA fiction I’ve read over the years, this was probably my favorite. I really liked most of the characters, particularly Nikolai. I wasn’t sure how it was all going to end, but I found it very satisfying.

A very riveting fantasy series
Having read Six of Crows duology first I was a little apprehensive about whether to read this book or not as I had read so many mixed reviews on this. But I'm glad I read this. Though it's not on par with Six of crows, this was a very interesting read. The Darkling's multi-dimensional and complex characterisation, Alina's constant dilemma, Genya's character and many more things of this book are worth reading. It had all the aspects you'd expect a fantasy book to have.

My two complaints are: Mal. The Darkling’s lack of a clear motive in the first two tomes. (even though Mal alone deserves -25 stars). Other than that this series is truly a chef’s kiss! It got immersive world-building, not pointless explanation of what kvas is and other things like that. It’s written in first pov, WHO exactly would she be telling what this everyday thing is? XD You get context clues: a drink, easily accessible, disgusting. There you go, it’s beer! One other thing that I love about this series is the believable characters, their changes in character depending on what’s happening around them, making them even more so realistic. Alina isn’t some perfect new girl like Bella Swan, she’s ordinary af! She has flaws, but she’s almost smart. She doesn’t need rescuing. Anyway, you don’t need any convincing from me to read these books. Just do yourself a favour!
