Edward George London Rose Oud Scented Candle Gift Set, 220g

I would give this aroma 10 stars if that were possible, and that is without even lighting it! The moment I opened the outer packaging lid, the most beautiful, subtle and classic fragrance floated out. It is most definitely subtle, not overpowering in any way. It is fresh, clean and refreshing, yet soft not sharp. I might even venture to suggest that it is uplifting. To me it brings memories of a gentlemans cologne which is sadly no longer available. (To those old enough to remember I would compare it to Monsieur Rochas which I also think may be down to the aroma of Bergamot.) This is much too lovely to give away! I just have to have it for myself! I would certainly consider buying another as a gift for a deserving friend or much loved relative, but this one is definitely mine!It comes beautifully presented in a classy black box, the wax is contained in a black glass votive with a replaceable lid and the box holds the surprise of a small box of long black wooden matches: a nice little touch. The wax is soft and, as the votive comes lying on its side inside the box, the wax appears to have melted and travelled to one side of the votive, which will cause the wax, when burning, to run off the top of the candle and down the side of the votive, instead of pooling slightly to the edges of the candle as the instructions suggests. This has also caused the wick to be completely submerged inside the wax, but I was abe to locate it and pick it out with a needle. Thankfully the votive has a fitted lid which luckily kept the wax from leaking out. I will store it upright in a warm place for a few days to see if the wax level will right itself before I start to burn it. This one issue is the only thing which would have made this a disappointment if it had been bought as a gift for someone else. Perhaps a deeper but narrower box, allowing the votive to be packed and transported in an upright position may help, though upright transport could never be guaranteed. A firmer setting wax formula would seem the most likely way to resolve this issue. Other than this, as I have said in my heading, the aroma is absolutely devine and the value will be justified if it burns for anywhere near the stated 50 hours.

A beautifully presented candle in a black box, with tissue paper, this rose oud scented candle from Edward George London is certainly very stylish. The packaging reminded me of another well known brand. The box also includes some long match sticks perfect for lighting candles. A very lovely well packaged candle. This would make a lovely gift for someone.The wax itself is also black and the scent is really lovely. You can smell the candle without it even being lit. The candle is in a black glass holder with a black replaceable lid. The candle burns well so far. At the current price of £27.00, this is not something I would buy myself but I would buy it as a gift. Although, it is very modern and stylish looking, so may not suit everyone’s taste or house décor.

This really is one of the highest quality candles I have ever had the pleasure of using, and is presented to the very best standard. For this latter reason it would make an excellent, thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates the finer things in life.The candle arrives in smart packaging, including a care guide, sturdy cap, and some smart long matches - a really thoughtful touch that enhances the feeling of the candle being part of a special occasion. I learned something useful from the care guide - to ensure an even burn, always use the candle for enough time to make the whole top surface warm and melt. This avoids the ‘drill hole’ effect where the candle starts tunnelling around the wick, shortening its useful life.Talking of longevity, this is a hard candle to defeat! I have clocked around 25 hours of burn time, with approximately half the candle left, so the claim of 50 hours on total seems fair.The scent: it’s strong without being overbearing, and I wish I had the words to do it justice- refreshing and rosy, is the best I can say. It lingers nicely, and burns evenly.The candle also boasts vegan credentials, something I’ve not seen before in a candle - another feature which makes it suitable as an ultra thoughtful gift.

This candle is something you'd get as a gift for someone rather than buying it for yourself, hence the high price. I feel like you're paying more for the packaging rather than the candle itself so it is ideal as a gift. You also get a set of matches with it, which matches the candle and the box. The all-black design of the candle and the box can add to the luxurious and elegant feel of the product, though some might see it as just straight up depressing. In my opinion, it's a great gift and I would love to receive something similar!The candle comes with a lid in order to protect it and smells absolutely amazing. It's about the same size as a large Yankee Candle (the container is shorter but contains the same amount of wax). What I believe to be a good aspect of this product and might also be the reason for the high price, the wax in the candle is vegan and ethical - I've never seen a product with vegan candle wax so this is a unique point of the product.I highly recommend this product as it is a very nice gift and it is clear that it is very good quality and unique.

I guess looking at the other reviews, I am the anomaly here.This candle arrived really well packaged in a gift box, although to be honest, a lot of waste if all you want is a candle, not more cardboard to throw out. It also came with a set of black matches as well.The candle itself is black, the scent when burning isn't overwhelming, but does take a while for it to become obvious that there's a candle with a smell, burning. Once it's been on for a while, yes it does smell nice.When putting the candle out, I used the lid which snuffed it out pretty effectively. The smoke however that comes from the candle just after lighting, and after snuffing it out is quite excessive, dark thick smoke that if kept in the same place often enough could go on your ceiling.At the time of this review, £27 for a candle is quite steep, nice smell but could be a bit stronger I think.
