I have a major gopher problem in my yard. My gophers happen to love everything I planted from last Spring. Now anything new I plant is going in one of these. They were easy to roll down and place my plant inside. It’s been two weeks and the plants are still alive so that’s a win. However I have heard the metal baskets can rust out over time. Hopefully that won’t happen. I still recommend using these so that your plants and trees can get established before the gophers can get to them.

These work great to put bulbs in and plant in the ground. Grophers can’t get in.

I used these to protect ny cantelopes from the voles and chipmunks. My first melon is about ready to harvest and the critters haven't done any damage. These bags are 9x9 and have enough room for these medium sized melons.

I had previously purchased another brand on Amazon (Root Guard) and comparing the two, this one, while less expensive, is of a poorer quality - the knit is coming unravelled at the top of the basket, it is a much looser "weave" (still way smaller than chicken wire so should be effective) and has a smelly, oily coating on it. Both brands came flat, requiring shaping into a cylinder shape to get it over the rootball, not too hard to do by folding up the lower corners. All in all I think these will do the job of protecting the roots from gophers until the plants establish growth. So if you want to save a few $$ get these but understand, there is a difference between manufacturers.

These were easy to use as I planted 1 gal and smaller potted plants. I would have liked a squared off or rounded bottom, but they are flexible enough it wasn’t a big problem. My concern is whether the mesh will be strong enough to fend off gophers. Only time will tell.

Convenient way to discourage moles and gophers from eating the plant roots. These are very flexible and easy to use. Have purchased other, stiffer products that I had to push and pull into shape, but these were immediately useable.
