GianiGranite Brick Transformations Kit- Whitewashed

This kit is great, it comes with everything you need to white wash your fireplace. Our color pallet doesn’t typically include warm tones so I wanted to mute the reds in the original fireplace and this did the trick. Easy to apply with a brush and then wipe away with the included wiping cloths. Makes the color pop and gives a fresh look for the fireplace. Since everything is included I’d say it’s well worth the money. It’s been a few months since we did it and is still holding up well. A great way to brighten the space.

Easy to mix and apply. I was able to get the results I was hoping for. The bricks were a dark brown and applying the product brightened up the whole area. Definitely would purchase again. I mixed 50/50 product and water for these results

Transformed what was a large block of relatively ugly brickwork into a lovely feature. Only took an hour with two people. Good product.

I figured I would write a review for this product because I know how much I appreciated reading the reviews when I decided to paint my fireplace.Day 1: I started by vacuuming my fireplace then spraying on TSP cleaner and brushing it all with a thick bristled broom. Then I sprayed water on it to rinse off any left over cleaner. I let a dehumidifier run overnight in the room because I wanted to make sure the brick was bone dry before painting.Day 2: I taped off the areas I didn’t want to get paint on and started to paint. I mixed half the can of paint (about 235ml) with 300ml of water. (so, slightly more water than a 1:1 ratio)Make sure to shake the can well before pouring and then use the stir stick to mix the water well before painting and often during the painting process.As I started painting, I could see the brick quickly absorbing the paint and a lot of the red brick underneath coming through, so after I painted about 10 bricks, I went back and applied more on the previous ones. I didn’t wipe off the paint, but I did pat it a bit with the enclosed cloth, cause the paint was going on very bubbly and I didn’t want the bubbles to show when it dried.This project took me 2 and a half cans to finish. After the second can, I had roughly 40 bricks left, so if I hadn’t had continually re-coated the bricks while I painted, I could have probably only used 2 cans.I am happy with the results. Like some other reviews mentioned, the paint has a very ‘cool’ white tone to it, so it’s a bit on the blue side. I ended up changing the bulbs in the room to a warmer tone, so I could soften it up a bit and make it match the colours on my walls a bit more.All in all, it’s a good product. The kit has a lot of useful tools in it to make the project easier, ( container, brush, stir stick, clothes, painters tape) and the kit was cheaper than buying just the can. Keep it in mind, it is a small can, not a gallon, not even a quart, but once you mix it with water, a little goes a long way.That being said, I still needed 3 cans to finish.
