ALM Strimmer Spool & Line

always get problems with the plastic collar that keeps line on spool tends to split easier then it should do . better spools on the market but they do not always fit due to the different strimmers on the market

Some years ago a friend gave me a Flymo D250 strimmer because she had got fed up with the line continually breaking. I used the same sized line and - like her - the line kept breaking necessitating regular stops in order to manually pull more line out.Finally, I decided to purchase a complete replacement reel of line so that I knew exactly what size line and what direction to wind it. Not feeling like spending £7 on a Flymo line I purchased the ALM equaivalent.The first thing I noticed was that the spool is different from my old one and the line is thinner. The new reel fitted easily and the line went into the slots easier than the old one had.In use it performed superbly and for the first time I managed to edge both of my fairly large lawns and around trees without the line breaking once. Also for the first time - the line was auto-feeding so the job was much quicker and easier.Therefore I am totally happy with this product and will be purchasing line refills from the same company.

Great quality strimmer spool much easier than wiring old spool saves the headache

It's OK, only just though..!The plastic winding are done wrong - they are supposed to be both wound in the same direction, but they are done in opposite directions so you have to un-wind the wrong one and then wind it again - a right fiddly job..!Also the previous one I bought, (also wound incorrectly) didn't last very long because the white outer plastic surround broke where the plastic cord comes out - this happened BEFORE the cord even finished..!!! Hence I had to buy another one. The original one that came with the machine lasted much longer, so much longer that I managed to refill it with cord 3 times before that broke.!!Maybe you will have more luck...?? BUT BE WARNED...
