Brackets are great, but use your own screws!

Excellent quality brackets - but throw away the screws
5 starts for the brackets, 0 stars for the screws that come with. The screws were worthless - really soft and instantly stripped without any pressure. Fortunately, I had lots of good screws on hand. The brackets are excellent, though, and as others have said, come with a film that you can peel off - or not - on the side they drilled out the holes. I removed the film because I have a feeling it would end up brittle and eventually make a mess crumbling from whatever you use them on - I used mine to put back together a large picture frame that fell apart.Anyway, don't hesitate to buy these, but get some good hard screws for your project from somewhere else, instead of relying on using the ones that come with the brackets.

Protective film on the braces which might account for reviewers writing they looked unfinished.
My wife's new hobby is making barn quilts. She asked me to frame this one for a mother's day present and afterwards I thought the corners needed more support than gorilla glue. I originally went to a large box store where I found zinc plated four count smaller braces for $2.78/(4) each. As these quilts hang outside plan was to coat the zinc plated with some rust preventer. Went on Amazon and thought I'd take a chance on these at $8.99/(10) each with free returns. Assuming some of the "free" Prime Shipping is baked into the price, if I didn't like them I'd send them back. They showed up in two days and like some reviewers wrote didn't look that great, but I figured they'd be on the back side out of view. Picture one, with the package of screws laying on the quilt is where I started out with them upside down as that was the best looking side. Turns out the "painted" look is actually a protective film. Remove that and you see a much nicer finish with recesses for the screws. As a bonus, there were 12 in the package so I can do two more frames. So with 12, that works out to about $3/4 braces for stainless steel v. $2.78/4 braces for zinc and included shipping so not much to complain about. And the stainless steel braces were larger than those from the big box store.

Used Not New
Upon opening, I see all corner braces were used AND had been painted on one side. Because I bought them (two packages of 10) for a rough project, I kept them. For someone wanting clean, unused and unpainted cornerbraces, these would not have been acceptable.

Perfect for picture frames
Good quality, protective film still in place. These were machined so very accurate measurement's. Will defiantly purchase again.
