Sturdy, beautiful, easy assembly and excellent customer service.
The bookshelves can handle heavy books, they look finished and beautiful, and they were easy to assemble. After assembly, 2 people make it easy to lift the bookcases upright. One other point: the large, three tier unit does require 2 people to handle it efficiently. But if it wasn’t heavy duty, it could not hold so many heavy books. Worth the money and effort.

Espresso color- 4.5 star
We got 3 units and put em together to make a nice big library wall. These shelves are nice and heavy, and generally higher quality than what I’m used to. I’m a 5’3, 120lb female and built all 3 units on my own with ease, despite the instructions saying you need 2 people to build it. It’s generally a straight forward, easy build, with just a few steps and easy to follow instructions. Great color that matches the dark, espresso floors well and makes the books pop. There are some dings and imperfections on each unit, nothing worth sending it back, but enough to notice. Obviously these are big shelves so we’re excited to fill our library over the years. My biggest gripe- the styrofoam. My god it took so long to clean up all the styrofoam, the tiniest little specks covered the entire unit and took forever to clean off the unit and the floor in the vicinity of the unit. The styrofoam seemed to be intact when removing the packaging, so I have no idea where those millions of little specks came from, and man was it hard to clean.

Particle board
This thing is terrible. The back panel is actually three pieces of cardboard held together into one piece by TAPE. The whole thing is particle board with some kind of laminated wood-looking thing slapped on it. The only thing nice I can say about it is it’s very thick particle board. I picked up a solid wooden bookshelf in the early 2000s brand new for $200. I miss those days. It’s nearly impossible to get solid wooden furniture now even if you are willing to pay the outrageous prices. On top of that, this thing is warped. The entire structure was slightly warped, both outer panels, I think putting it together kind of slightly helped that, but the seams don’t really line up well no matter what you do. I’m so disappointed in this, and I got two of them so I’m stuck with them for now. I’ll put up with this for awhile and then go buy some real ones if I can find real wooden bookshelves somewhere. Also, if you’re expecting a rich reddish cherry color, forget it. It’s more like a weird plum color. Also, the wood-looking sticker laminate thing they put on it doesn’t really look like wood grain either. So far it hasn’t collapsed and killed anyone, but I’m keeping these things over in the far back corner of the room out of harm’s way just in case…

Very robust bookcase
Design - this bookcase looks great, especially when paired wit more units. Much higher than the average bookcase, over the door opening.

I bought five of these. All outstanding purchases.
Heavy and sturdy. Not particleboard but not real wood either. Engineered wood I would guess is the correct term. Appears to resist humidity quite well.Depth is 12" unlike the older, 2000era, Midas units which were over 14" in depth. Oh well, cost cutting measure obviously which constrains one from from double stacking.Still the finest budget wood bookcase of its type. I have over 2200 books and am transitioning over to these units from the cheaper particle board units. All are hardcover and there is no bowing of the shelves when fully loaded after nearly a year of use.(I do double stack with smaller books in front of taller units)Assembled each unit in 30minutes.

Look really nice. Just what I wanted.
I wanted tall bookcases that were solid wood, and I think it mostly is. It was relatively easy to assemble, but you definitely need two people, and it takes some time. The instructions were good. My only disappointment was the backing, as it was thin particle board. It comes tri-folded, and some of the styrofoam got stuck in the creases and was difficult to remove, as it stuck to the tape holding the three pieces together. I used a dark brown Sharpie marker to help cover it up. It comes with brackets to attach to the wall, but I didn’t use them. Seemed pretty stable on its own.

A two person Job.
This is a very sharp looking and sturdy bookcase. I wish it had one more removable shelf for more configurations. for the money it seem that could be added. However I really like it and would suggest to anyone who is looking for a quality case and as affordable price.

bookshelf is not square and the boards are bowed
awful purchase. we followed the directions to a T and redid the back even had to seperate by the 3rd time. nothing we tried makes this level and at this point frankly I am tired of trying. For the money this should be cut perfect. I have put together other brands of shelving an NEVER have had any issues. DO NOT BUY, Ikea is the way to go for the price
