Unifix Cubes, Set of 1000

I bought this to gift to a classroom teacher. I used a set for 25 years and they were still like new when I left them when I retired. These are the best manipulatives because they can be used to teach so many concepts.

My box only had 800 cubes in it! I only received 8 sticks of 10 cubes in each of the 10 colors. There should have been 10 sticks of ten cubes in each of the 10 colors.

Unifix cubes are durable, colorful, easy to store, easily joined by small hands and IRRESISTIBLE. An informed educator can use them to teach number sense and place value, patterning, graphing, estimation, measurement (area, length, weight), algebraic relationships, etc. Home schooling parents will find them invaluable. Why? If they need help teaching their children, infomation is widely available. Through their use and manipulation their children can construct and coordinate relationships, the stuff of mathematical thinking.

Built well, about 2.3 cm by 2.3 cm. Good for teaching adding and subtracting however not useful for teaching surface area and cubic measurements.

These are great with young children learning many things through play: colors, counting, sorting, patterns, addition, subtraction. Our local early childhood group puts 25 of these in PK learning kits. Children in childcare are always choosing these.
