Q: Is there a seal or protectant for the middle part (in between the plates)? I heard this part of the system scratches easily.

It's just 2 plates like the oem ones you'd remove. There was nothing underneath them, therefore there's no reason for anything below these. Besides, anything like that would affect the heating and cooling.

Q: Does it void the warranty?

Removing the original white faceplate does not void the warranty, as this is allowed to add an m.2 ssd to the console. I kept the original white ones to put back on in case I have to send the console in for service.
