Collars work well and take up less space width-wise so you can add more weight plates.
If any reviewers don't like this collar. They must haven't been lifting heavy. Spring collars interfere in the set up for dumbbell presses. Digging into my legs and whatnot. I also replaced the included bolts with M10-1.5x16 Socket / Allen Head Cap Screw Stainless Steel 10mm x 16mm Bolts so I can have less interference from the turn rods. when putting my dumbbells on my thighs to hoist up for the incline press.
