Compatible with newer cig lighter charger heads.
My 2006 Chevy won't work with newer devices that plug into the cigarette lighter port. It's not fuses or wiring issues. It's the socket. So my newer tire inflator, light, phone charger plugs don't make proper contact. I replaced a couple of them with this Dorman replacement part. Every device I have now works properly with these sockets. The tool is pretty handy for getting the cover off the socket. Made swapping them out easy.

Easy Changeout
This works perfectly! The key is like several review mention to ease into the two square openings to release the clips. Gentle give a little pull so it moves just a little and then remove the tool. No problems on my 2001 Silverado.

Works like it should
Great replacement. Only difference between this and the original that came in my van is this one is a bit more snug to plug into.

Lighter tool
Perfect fit. Easy to use. Good quality not flimsy. Worth the price. Didn't realize it at the time but I so needed this tool to do what I needed to do.

Lighter socket fail
Tried this unit in my wife's personal vehicle. Before installing it, did a test with a multi-meter to make sure the socket makes continuity. It shorted out her wiring circuit. No joy, no good.Don't waste your money.

Flimsy
The tool is very flimsy & bent on the first use . Pretty much a cheap single use tool . The power outlet is also thin & flimsy compared to factory . Everything did work but you can tell it is all cheaply made .

Great tool worked perfectly! Here's some easy instructions to use it also :) enjoy!
So this tool worked perfectly to remove the 12v power outlets in my 2008 Yukon. It was a little tricky at first, especially reading that so many people broke things getting off and had to pull really hard, but after 1 minute of doing that I thought there had to be a better way, and let me tell you there is!!! It was so easy, I pulled out both my outlets and replaced the rings in under a minute with this tool.So here is what you have to do, you'll see a little square about half way down your outlet on the bottom, angle the tool so that one half of the T goes in that little square, then lift the handle up on the tool so that the other half goes in the outlet and you'll feel it fit into a square on the top inside of the outlet.Once you have it locked in just pull a little bit, I think this is where everyone else was having problems, you can pull as hard as you want and it will rip it out but it will most likely break something. So instead of doing that just pull a little bit until you see the outlet come out just a tiny bit, that's all it needs. I then removed the tool the same way I put it in and was able to just slide the out let out and then unplug it. It's that easy! :DAll the tool does is release the clips inside so you can slide it out, once you've slid it a little the clips aren't engaged anymore and the tool is now blocking you from completely removing the outlet. Once you remove the tool, the outlet just slides right out. Hope that helps!!! Good luck everyone!

A Quick Fix for a Frustrating Problem!
The cigarette lighter power port in my 2015 Checy Colorado simply stopped working one day, which was very frustrating as I use it for my dash cam and my RV rear cam when I am towing. I replaced all of the fuses and nothing worked. I purchased this replacement lighter socket and removal tool and had the old one out and the new one installed in less than two minutes. Now everything works perfectly again. I even use a splitter in it now so I can plug two devices into it at the same time. Problem solved!
