Beautiful
beautiful book!fine. well made hardback with bookmark.cover simple. leaf embossed title on to sturdy card stock with canvas on top with landscape oils as its art.this same art reappears throughout the book for each new chapter.pages are thick and well attached to spine.simple icons are used to indicate whether or not a recipe contains dairy, nuts, gluten, shellfish and so forth. plus fast time recipes.there is a photo for every 5-6 pages which are magnificently well executed to express a sense of being in the home over a table with our aunties, and uncles and grandmothers and mothers, all alike. The recipes are not sympathetic to ingredient availability in usual standard grocery stores in the United States.nor or any substitutes indicated. keep in mind that traditional German cooking has influenced most of what is considered traditional American cooking. The book is still clearly written for Americans as all measurements are in US standard.regional origin of each recipe is indicated at the top of each recipe. all measurements are listed first with information on how to prepare underneath. no recipe is more than two paragraphs. In length. I find this book to be easy to understand and work with.

Real classical German cuisine
If you want the old school German food you had when you visited Germany, this is the book. More pictures would have been nice.
