L’Oréal Paris Paradise, Intense Volume, Castor Oil-Enriched, Suitable for Sensitive Eyes, Soft Mascara Brush, Brown

I haven't smelt a mascara like this since the 80's - in fact I'd forgotten how mascaras used to smell until I opened this brown mascara! It's not unpleasant, just not what I expected. The product itself applies well, though is much thinner in consistency than the black one which I have also purchased. The black is much creamier (though won't last you more than about 6 weeks before it clumps so much it becomes unuseable). This is thinner and drier (maybe because it wasn't sealed?) - makes me think I've been sent an old one that's been sat on a shelf somewhere for a while:(

It arrived unboxed and unsealed but being L’Oreal I thought it was a reliable and trustworthy brand so risked using it anyway....Wish I hadn’t! The following morning I looked liked I’d been punched in the face - twice! My eyelids were swollen and red, absolutely awful, despite taking my makeup off the night before as I always do. Obviously had some sort of reaction to it, 2 days later my eyes are still sore and I still can’t wear my contacts, whether it’s the formula or the fact it wasn’t sealed - it makes me shudder to think about it and really wish I hadn’t risked it! Never again!

Picture is a single coat of the dark brown for reference! It can get thicker than that. I’m really pale and you can see it while it is dark, doesn’t look harsh. Black looks starker against my skin usually.I like it because it separates my lashes and defines them without looking clumpy. Really nice lightweight formula for everyday wear. Easy to build a second coat on top.I’m a very pale redhead and this is great for everyday. Dark brown looks close to black but actually is slightly less intense so great for days when you just want a slight bit of definition without going in for a full face. I’d use a different one for a night out when I want a bit more definition but great for during the day in summer.Not waterproof - but not sold as waterproof and washes off easily with makeup remover.I think the longevity about average or slightly better compared to others I’ve used. Didn’t notice it smudging much throughout the day.

Really happy with this mascara . Great colour without being obviously brown . I have fair hair and now I’m getting older , black mascara looks a little harsh . This brown mascara has a warmness to it .It does remind me of mascaras from my youth , as described by a previous review, it does have a retro smell to it that I’d forgotten!The smell is not unpleasant and definitely doesn’t make your eyelashes smell !I don’t mean that this mascara is old . It goes on beautifully and with a couple of applications appears to last all day . I haven’t noticed any flaking or smudging . I have had no problem removing it . I use a makeup removing balm and the mascara just dissolves . The price is excellent, I’m very pleased.

Found this mascara very disappointing. Its dry and harsh on eyelashes. Very difficult to remove - even though its not waterproof it was tough to get off. I tried to preserve with it as reluctant to throw away but i noticed lashes coming out when removing - this has never happened with any other mascara. Worse still my natural lashes which are usually strong and long looked thinner and less healthy. Ended up throwing it away, awful stuff.
