I use shackles for connecting various lines for taking down trees and pulling stumps. In the photo the shackle is located between the snatch block and the yellow "tree saver." Easy to use with larger tow straps. I usually carry a small adjustable wrench with me to loosen the threaded pin after it's been under tension. I have it with me because to the chain saw but it comes in handy when the threads get tight. High quality, highly recommend and cheaper than the big box stores.

The shackles work but they came damaged. They had scratches where the powder coating was removed. Strictly cosmetic, but they were supposed to be brand new.UPDATE: The seller contacted me and offered a new pair of shackles. These too came scratched. The black powder coating was peeled off in one spot- about a half inch in diameter- exposing the protective layer underneath as if the powder coating didn't adhere to the shackle well. Another similar spot was bubbled and flaked off with my fingernail. Important to note is this didn't expose bare metal underneath, so their multi layer coating worked and should prevent rust for now. Unfortunate that both sets were scratched, but the seller did try to make it right and with little effort from me. These are shackles, after the first use they'll probably be scratched anyway so not a big deal

These shackles should do the intended job, but I purchased these in particular because of the rubber sleeves shown in every picture, including previous purchase photos in the reviews. Mine however, did not come with the rubber bumpers, and i was specifically looking for shackles with bumpers to cut down on the noise, so these will become seldom used spares, as they will do no better than the shackles I currently have.

I was expecting the red rubber bumpers like in the picture. I bought these just because of that. The rubber bumper helps the shackles not beat against the bumper while driving and eventually destroy the finish on the bumper. Other than that they are plain Jane shackles.
