Good story in need of an edit
Despite the outcry over editing here - which can be easily fixed and didn't bother me for a free download - the story was a delightful romp. It's quite a typical fantasy, yet the protagonist is different in being a mature, if coddled starter kit: at least we weren't served with the usual farm boy trope. Even though there are many nods to convention there are some differences, which reveal themselves slowly as the tale unfolds. The ending was a cliff-hanger-cum-teaser which leaves it open for the next part. Let's hope Cerepaka doesn't go with a predictable resolution.I agree with other reviewers that this could have been a better book, but that book is already there, lurking under the surface. Once the typos are cleaned up in future editions and sequels, should be great. The Martyr and the Prophet (The Lost Testament Book 1)

It seems like it would be interesting
I only got as far as the first few pages. It seems like it would be interesting. However, it was poorly written and edited. Grammar errors abound and sentence structure is poor. The author introduces concepts without explaining what they are or giving context clues to help the reader understand. I am sure clarity would come with time, but I am not willing to put that much time into something unedited. That being said, this author shows a vast amount of potential. I applaud anyone that can stick to writing a book until it is "finished" (I say finished, not polished). It takes a lot of effort to write and not many people can make it until the end. The cover art is brilliant and greatly influenced my want to read this book.P.S. I know there are probably grammatical errors in this post. People make mistakes. This piece is not a published work. It is a forum post for all intents and purposes. If this was a published work, I would make sure that it was edited and error free.

Dragged myself to the end of this story.
Let me start by saying that part of my favorite sentence in this book was "...as they circled each other like squabbling tiger lions." I think with just that one line you can see how this book is written. As other reviewers have said there are plenty of grammatical problems and this definitely needs an editor.I think what I really dislike most about this book was that it was written in such a way that you'd hear most people thoughts along the lines of "Hey I should tell so and so about this and that" then in the next line or paragraph they would actually say "Hey so and so let me tell you about this and that."This could be a much much better book, it just needs a good editor (and if it already had one they should be fired and a new one found)

Very well written
It is not easy to find book written well. This book has all the qualities of a very well written book: good grammar, takes the reader on a compelling journey, has skilled characterization (the characters are diverse and well developed, the characters' dialogue is not boring, and the story makes sense and it is original.

As good as it was
As good as it was, it was definitely confusing when you first started reading the book. I loved it but wish the author would have written it in a different style. If someone were to want to get this book I would definitely recommend it.

Good read
It's a good book but not one that I would buy the next n the series. Someone younger would probably like it better and get the series.

not my usual 5 stars.
Definitely written for young adults. Harry Potter style. Found it hard to get into until half way through the book, glad I decided to finish it. In the end half decent plot. might read the next one in the series.
