New to Warhammer 40000? Start with this book
Excellent introduction into the massive world of 40k. Stories are brilliant, engaging and surprisingly emotional at times. The book print however, is a bit too small for my old eyes. Would've preferred a little larger font.

A great introduction to Warhammer 40k
This was my first introduction to the 40k universe and it did the best thing any good book can do: left me wanting more! If you’ve been interested at all in entering the lore of this dark, crazy universe, I strongly recommend starting with this collection of short stories. It will provide you a taste of everything, and Dan Abnett is the right author to wet your appetite.

Excellent
I am new to Warhammer 40K. I have never played the tabletop game or any of the video games. I knew very little about Warhammer 40K lore except what I found in some videos on YouTube by Luetin. I love this book. The writing is uniformly excellent. The stories are engaging, the characters deep and well-thought out. I am very, very happy with this as my introduction to the grim dark future.

Good short stories, settings are all over the place.
I just finished the book. It really fun short stories from a bunch of different perspectives. Really fun read. As usual Black Library has stupendous binding and really good paper (I read in bubble baths during quarantine.)

Excellent
37 short stories, some from the gaunt's ghosts and Eisenhorn series of books, most standalone stories. 10/10 writing from Dan Abnett, as usual.

Late to Warhammer.
I've been flirting with the idea of learning the lore for Warhammer 40000 and finally took the plunge with on-line informational videos, summaries, a PS4 game and Dan Abnett's Lord of the Dark Millennium. Man am I sorry to have waited so long. What a great, expansive, super-dark universe. I love it! Abnett writes about his settings and characters supremely well. I look forward to reading much more of his work. As a truly decent fellow traveler wrote to me the other day...."Welcome to The Hobby!"

Wonderful read.
I bought the hardcover and it's a beautiful tome. I've read most of Dan Abnett' s work and these short stories are spectacular. A definate bright addition to someone's library. Be aware that the print is tiny.

This book might be best described as thicc
.. I hate myself for typing that. This book is considerably bigger than it appears, and it's big. The text size is small, so if you have a hard time with that, either get a magnifier or the digital version. I imagine if they released it with a more standard text size, it would have been two books. I haven't started reading it yet (halfway through Rynn's World at the moment, great book) but I imagine if I started reading this thing right now, I'd probably not be done for at least a couple months if I went at it leisurely.

Highly recommended short stories
Superbly written copy of all, or most of Dan Abnett's Warhammer short stories. Best thing is, like me, you don't have to be a fan of the game world, models, etc. If you like sci fi military fiction, or 2000ad, or just good thriller writing, then just enjoy anyway - Dan Abnett fills in the blanks and tells some great stories. And did I mention the great cover?

Dark being the operative word
A great book full of dark and grim stories from the Warhammer universe, I hope it eventually comes out as an audiobook
