School Rumble Round 3!
I am reviewing the dvd itself not the anime as a whole. Well unto the review.Pro:The plot thickens and there's more character development than previous volumes (we finally get to know Hanai's and Mikoto's story as well as getting introduced to a new character). The dvd ends on a cliffhanger which viewers are enticed to find out what happens next. There are new realtionships that are developing, which is ok for this series as there are so many characters and you would like to know who has feelings for who. Also, who can forget about the magnets (though DVD 1 had the best magnets IMO)Con:The dvd only contains 4 episodes, down 1 from previous dvds. The extras are similar from previous installments as well. Conclusion:If you are fan of the series, than it's an absolute must to purchase this dvd. If you are new to the series, I recommend buying the first dvd as you will be confused to jump into the series from this volume. Casual viewers might find this volume to be much better than the first 2 as it has situations that viewers can understand (non anime viewers to be precise, the first 2 relies heavily on anime fandom).P.S. Please read my other dvd reviews for school rumble.

Series starts slow but hits its stride with this volume
First things first; this reviewer NEVER laughs at 'funny' shows. Even popular ones like scrubs and family guy only ever bring smiles to my face, but never make me laugh out loud. I mean I enjoy them, but they never make me laugh. It was to my suprise then, that show managed to do so not once, but several times. In essence school rumble is about a group of students who are all caught in one massive love web (a triangle would be too simplistic). Things start off slow in volume 1, introducing the main characters: Harima, a thug and delinquent who drives around town (and even into the school!) on a chopper, fights gangsters and is a general all round bad dude. He is in love with Tenma, a cute but fairly dim-witted if not funny highschool girl, who is in turn in love with Karasuma, an odd but fairly ordinary boy, who is in love with curry (yes the food; don't worry, its not the name of a person). Now had this show just stuck with this cast, it would have got fairly repetative very quickly; Tenma and Harima try to confess their feelings but eventually fail in some wacky and over-the-top manner. This would obviously get old fast since there is no scope for complications to arrise. This is where Volumes 2 and 3 step in and raise this show from average (3 star) to bloody brilliant (5 star). It does this by simply fleshing out the backround characters in volume 1; characters that you thought were bland and unimportant become a lovable supporting cast each with their own crushes and pet hates that turn the once bland soup into an explosive recipe for disataster. People accidently confess with the wrong person, grotesque misunderstandings arise that makes characters believe they are fighting for the same person despite fighting about completely different things, and the scale of accidental wrong-doings ramps up several notches. In summary, school rumble starts off as an enjoyable, if a bit shallow 'feel good show'. However, it soon starts developing some real depth, becomes funnier and funnier till the point where I finally cracked in volume 3 and was laughing like a mad-man. It even has some genuenly heart breaking and tender moments. The characters are brilliant, and the random and wierd incidents (talking animals that can read minds? shooting arrows at the person you are trying to confess to?) keep things fresh. Don't judge this show on the average first volume, because trust me, things get better and better to the point of being insanely good.

Still one of the funniest Anime shows
Now, for those who read my School Rumble volume 1/starter set review, I gave that a full 5 star rating compared to this volume which I gave a 4/5 (if I could give it a 4 1/2 stars I would). The reason for this is (for me, personally) it was a slight blip compared to the 1st 5 episodes in volume 1, mainly because the last 3 episodes in this volume tend to repeat the same depressing music. At 1 point, the music is repeated roughly about 2 minutes apart, & it does get on your nerves a bit (just picture you're listening to the radio & the same song is played over & over again in a very short time period). Also the episodes in this volume is a bit more serious than we expect (don't worry, there's still quite a few comedy moments) e.g. violence involving Harima & Tennouji.Having said that, the episodes are still top notch, story & comedy wise. This volume covers episodes 6 - 10.1 (episode 6) - Harima mistakens that Tenma fancies him & eventually got into an (comedic style) accident. To the A&E!2 (episode 7) - My fave episode in this volume, the class of 2-C is on pool cleaning duty. Obviously the gang managed to make the chore into a fun game, pool hockey anyone?3 (episode 8) - Tenma making school lunch for her & Karasuma, obviously we established Tenma can't cook...4 (episode 9) - Harima is taken in by a strange (yet attractive) woman when his dream of being a Manga artist is shot down.5 (episode 10) - Harima becomes a fortune teller. The bonus features includes interview with (Japanese) voice actresses for Mikoto & Eri.Overall, this volume is worth getting, just don't let my 4 star rating put you off, its just me being honest what I dislike (you see, I'm not biased!). If you like School Rumble volume 1, you will enjoy this too.NOTE: I really doubt that Amazon will give you information about volume 3 anytime soon, so let me inform you that it (volume 3) will be released on the 21st July 2008, & let me tell ya, the 4 episodes in that volume is fantastic! You will definitely enjoy it!
