I'm not sure why I had such a terrible experience and everyone else seems to have had a great one :(I bought this because I have a bunch of chalkboard pens and wanted something to write on with them. I put a large rectangle up on the wall in my kitchen and made a calendar for September. I got through September, and went to make October's calendar. I tried plain water, simple green, and windex to get the pen off, and it wouldn't disappear more than 40%.Frustrated , I decided to take it down. I peeled the corner back carefully, and it peeled the paint right off of my walls—it even went right through the primer and peeled it off of the drywall (in the shape of Martha's Vineyard, or a sad stegosaurus, depending on what you're into)! Now this $11 decal has caused $30 in damage, and they were just painted in March. I don't recommend this product, though if you plan to purchase it, I suggest you use normal chalk and adhere it to something like a laminate cabinet, desk, or a refrigerator...not painted walls.In the photos I've attached, you can see where the paint has come off and where the paint pen did NOT come off.

Really love this product! I originally purchased it for homeschooling. I don't want to permanently hang a chalkboard in every room that I teach in and I don't have the space for a a stand alone. Once I began using it however, like other reviewers, I found a gazillion other uses for it.As other reviewers have stated, there are endless possibilities with this stuff! I am a bit of a geek when it comes to organization and keeping things simple and clean (ok, I have OCD, whatever). I probably get too excited about products that help me in those areas of my life. This product has become a new favorite of mine because it is definitely feeding geek (and OCD) inside of me.I also like the fact that it isn't shiny. I had purchased another similar product at a craft store and it was shiny. I thought that it needed to be that way in order to have the dry erase markers work and clean up well. The shiny stuff looks so tacky and I ended up sticking it on a window and letting the curtains cover it when not in use. Being that this is matte, it isn't an eyesore, but rather it enhances most areas I choose to place it. It cleans up very well with both the dry erasers and also with a wet paper towel. I'm using the Kynsa liquid markers and I love those as well.

I picked this up for my grand-daughter's dorm room at college. She didn't seem to have any problems with its application and loves the bright colored chalks. I was pleased she received this product quickly without any problems.

I am writing this review after over a year since we got this and put it on the wall. It is still there after daily use. It did not start peeling anywhere. The roll is kind of narrow and I wish it was wider but it is a great product.

Great product! Easy to apply and the checkered backing makes it easy to cut straight pieces.I put mine on my kid's bedroom door!

My 4 and 5 year olds absolutely love it! I cut it in half to make it wider, so i needed to order a second one.
