Q: The black portion of the shock absorbing lanyard is enclosed in a heavy vinyl/plastic wrap. Is this supposed to be removed? No instructions on this.

If you're talking about the black rectangular portion that connects to the D ring on the back and then to the lanyard I believe the answer is no. I used shock absorbing lanyards on fall protection equipment working large industrial jobs. They always looked like an intact unit. I'd still recommend searching for it on line.

Greetings, 1D Ring harness has only one dorsal D-ring to match any foreseeable fall arrest working condition. 3 D-Rings harness has one dorsal D-ring and other two Waist D-rings for better work position. Best Regards, WELKFORDER
