SawyerProducts SP5332 Premium Ultra 30% DEET Insect Repellent in Liposome Base Lotion, Twin Pack, 3-Ounce

This stuff is awesome. Mosquitoes are particularly fond of me - more so than anyone I know. I always get ridiculous amounts of bites when I go anywhere outside. I bought this originally from where I got vaccinations before going to Thailand, and it turned out to be amazing. I went to rural Chiang Mai to an elephant rescue, and was in mud rivers and waterfalls in the jungle - it continued to work even after getting wet. I ended up purchasing more on here, and I'll continue to buy this. It's essentially odorless (very minimal smell), and it goes on like lotion (give it a minute to not be greasy, just like lotion).

Ok,as soon as the product came I had to test it. I put very little on and asked my wife if the smell bothered her. She was quite happy with the way it smelled. She has SERIOUS senses...sight...hearing, taste etc. I can't hide from her. But then I don't want to. Anyway.... We have a very natural backyard with lots of beautiful growth, so I went in to the worst place back there which is near our blackberry grove. Always soooo many mosquitos. I was not bitten 1 time or absolutely ZERO! HOORAY for Sawyer products. I also have some of the water filtering items that work as well. A truly GREAT protector.

These are really small bottles for the amount of money they are asking, The value for money star rating they ask for is a 1.It also asks for a presentation rating. I am not sure what this means exactly. If it means how well it is presented on Amazon then that is a 5. It looked and sounded like it was an excellent product. They did a bang-up job of selling it to me. If it means how well the bottle looks than I reckon that is a 5 too.The third thing they ask in this review is to leave a 1-5 star for scent. I left a 3 b/c it has no scent.The overall rating is a 1. This is based on the fact that the three people that used this to repel mosquitos all got bit to heck. I mean bit so bad we appeared to have measles!This was not a one time trial either. Two of us used this for 1 month during mid-July-early Aug in Tennessee USA. We were mostly just in our back yard. After being bitteb up so bad the third or fourth time using the lotion and spray (I bought both), one of us quit using it and bought a can of Off with DEET. It worked much better and was less expensive.I didn't take a photo of the bites we had. I should have. They were awful.I would not buy this again and do not recommend it to others.

Sawyer's has been my favorite for about 5 years. I've used other brands and have found them too greasy or sticky, both on initial application and after a few miles of hiking on a hot day. There is no smell from Sawyer's unlike the brands that make you smell like a citronella candle. Lastly, the creamy lotion does not discolor or stain clothing or plastic like some brands do.

I have mixed feelings.On the one hand, these kept the bugs off. WORTH IT.On the other hand, they leaked and melted several of my (plastic, specialty waterproof hiking) bags. Those were expensive and the lost liquid is also expensive. NOT WORTH IT.So, I recommend wrapping these in paper first (I used magazine pages) or fabric and then putting them in your bag. Taping them closed didn’t work for me.
