EltaMD UV Physical Tinted 100% Mineral Face Sunscreen, SPF 40 and 41

I’ve tried quite a few facial sunscreens over the years, and the EltaMD UV Physical Tinted Sunscreen SPF 41 has quickly become one of my favorites. What really stands out to me is how lightweight it feels for a 100% mineral sunscreen. It doesn’t have that thick, chalky texture I usually expect from zinc-based formulas. The tinted finish is a big plus, it blends in nicely and helps even out my skin tone without looking like makeup. It gives a subtle, natural glow rather than a greasy shine, which I appreciate, especially on busy days when I want to keep things simple. I also love that it’s gentle on my skin. I’ve had no irritation or breakouts, which can be an issue for me with some sunscreens. It layers well under makeup too, without pilling. The only minor downside is that the tint may not be a perfect match for every skin tone, but for me, it blends well enough to not be noticeable. Overall, this is a reliable, everyday sunscreen that feels good on the skin and does exactly what I need it to do.

Best tinted sunscreen for oily skin. Does not bother eyelids if applying a full face of it. Long lasting and can’t beat the fact that you can pay for the subscription, or purchase of this sunscreen with your HSA/FSA card. Highly recommend this for all the naturally glow or slightly or super oily face people. I also use the non-tinted 50 spf EltaMD sunscreen on my neck and sometimes face as well.

This lasted me over 7 months of daily use. I use four pea-sized drops per day, dabbing each drop three times. (Forehead dab left right middle, cheek bottom top middle, etc) That spreads it well. I like the product. I don't wear any makeup. When I was comparing colors pre-purchase, I wasn't sure if I would go with the white/clear or with the lightly tinted, because I didn't want to have a warm colored foundation on my cool colored skin, but I have a discolored red patch on my forehead that I hoped would be hidden. The product soaks into my skin and is tinted enough that it covers up the discolored patch. (The one and only day I tried the transparent version, my 9-year-old son asked me what was wrong with my forehead. So I'm not interested in trying that one ever again if I have this tinted option.) I do have to make sure that I rub it in enough, cuz it can look a little streaky, because the liquid is quite thick and kind of clumpy. That's the only part I don't like. I generally have to use two or three pea sized drops in sections. I have to watch the edges by my hair to make sure they blend in. I also have to go under my jawline so that the color reaches into the shadow to blend it on my neck; otherwise it's visible. It completely soaks in, so it doesn't feel like makeup at all. I'm very white and fine with that and wanted to keep my natural color, so I also worried that the tint was going to make me look tan or something. I'm not sure how much browner I look, but it must be some if it covers up the patch. I feel like the product works. I haven't gotten any sunburns. I'm very happy and plan to continue buying it. I've been using it daily for several weeks, and the bottle feels maybe half full. Pretty pricey to me ($40 for a small bottle of sunscreen??), but the price seems worth it to have that dark patch on my forehead gone and even-looking skin without feeling like I'm wearing makeup, and also not getting sun exposure.

I love this sunscreen because it's tinted and it's good for my incredibly sensitive face. It's one of the only top rated mineral tinted facial sunscreens I can find with the right ingredients. However, I did give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it causes some pilling (for lack of better words) under my translucent powder (I use the ETUDE Zero Sebum powder). I may opt to use a different and better quality translucent powder because I need the sunscreen but was hoping not to have to. I have found that the best way to improve it is to wait a couple minutes after moisturizing and then wait another couple minutes after the sunscreen to apply the powder.

Love it. Best tinted sweat resistant sunscreen out there and beleive me. I've tried many. It's difficult to find a brand without the harsh chemicals and even Elta MD has some options that include those chemicals but this one seems to be the lesser of evils. It has remained a staple in my skin protection regimen. I have Albinism, dry skin due to sebhorric dermatitis and in general very sensitive skin. I've tried many other brands includong Sunbum mineral tinted face, which was not the correct pigment and rubbed off very easily. This is the one I come back to again and again. I use it at the beach and when I go hiking in the mountains. It can cause increased dryness which is why I ventured elsewhere for a bit but ended coming back to it because nothing else compared to the sweat/water resistance, the ease of application, the pigment and honestly, the coverage- like others have stated, it does seem to cover blemishes very well. **Tip - I started applying a moisturizer before applying the sunscreen and then again at night after I've washed my face which seems to buffer the dryness. I wore this every day for 10 days hiking in Italy and my face didnt react until I finished the trek, which is impressive! You need to use a more hardcore moisturizer though, such as the Clinique 100H moisture surge! Also I want to point out that becauae I have Albinism and do not tan at all, I am living proof that this sunscreen works. I dont think people realize how often you actually need to apply sunscreen. It's not a one and done thing. Read the label, do your research and protect your skin!

I really like this physical sun block lotion. It definitely has a slight tint to it. Since it is summer time, I probably should have gotten the medium tint instead of the lighter one, but other than trying to figure out which color is best it works very well. It was recommended to me that I put a regular moisturizer on first, let that dry, then put this physical sunblock on next and let that dry 5 minutes. At that point you can just not put any more makeup on, but if I'm going out someplace where I want to dress up, I will put a foundation on top of that. All in all it appears to be better than using the sunblock lotions that contain chemicals.

I don't love the price, but I haven't been able to find a tinted sunscreen that is comparable in quality, comfort, and matching skin color.

I used to love this sunscreen, but it appears it was reformulated. I used to experience it being a little goopy and hard to spread, but it was great otherwise-good sun protection, perfect color tint for my skin, nice coverage, and worked well under makeup. This last purchase, my skin is sooo shiny. I use a matte foundation and lots of powder, and there is still shine. I might have to go back to the UV Clear or another product.

🏝️☀️I took the EltaMD Physical Broad Spectrum SPF 41 with me on a trip to an island, and it really protected my skin from the sun. It does feel a bit sticky when you first apply it, but that’s a small trade-off for how well it works. It has become my favorite sunscreen for beach days and sunny vacations.

I have melasma, and I’m currently Accutane as well, so my skin is severely dry and everything irritates it. I have been through a slew of sunscreens and I have learned that all chemical sunscreens and some hybrid sunscreens severely irritate my eyes. I’m talking eyeballs burning out of my head stinging. This is all physical, leaves a nice matte, but healthy looking glow finish on my skin, and it actually doesn’t dry it out. It feels extremely moisturizing and does not irritate me at all. This is most definitely my holy Grail sunscreen. The tint is beautiful. It’s a light enough that it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a bad faux tan on my fair skin, and it really evens out my complexion. It might seem like a high price, but it’s 3 ounces of product so it will last a while. I will definitely repurchase this one, over and over again. A+++ on this one!

Es excelente, tengo la piel y ojos muy sensibles y con este protector no tengo ningún tipo de problema al aplicarlo incluso en los párpados, no irrita, no pica, no se corre con el agua o sudor. Al ser con tinte deja un terminado "de buena cara", no parece que traes maquillaje pero unifica tan bonito que incluso podría no maquillarme. No se hace bolitas con los productos que uso de skincare antes y permite aplicar el maquillaje encima sin problema. Si eres de piel grasa ayuda a controlar el brillo facial pero sin resecar, de todas maneras despues de unas horas es necesario retirar el brillo. Al contener óxidos de hierro es ideal para quienes tenemos manchitas. Hay que dejar que se absorba bien unos minutos y el resultado es perfecto. Lo único malo quizá es que es más caro que otros pero lo vale
