Seven Years of Grace: The Inspired Mission of Achsa W. Sprague

This is a biography of Achsa Sprague, a woman perhaps not widely remembered today, but who was a celebrated spiritualist in the mid 1800's. The subject was very thoroughly researched and the book was well constructed and attractively produced. Ms. Sprague traveled and lectured extensively over the eastern half of the US, and crossed paths with numerous well known figures of the time. Her own interesting story is enriched by the thoughtful inclusion of historical events and political issues of the years leading up to the start of the Civil War, as well as by illuminating descriptions of everyday life in the 1850's.
