Do you have to press the button on the actual flashlight before you can use the pressure switches?

YES. The button on the actual flashlight has to be in the "ON" position for the remote pressure switch to work. What I found interesting is if both the on-flashlight and remote switches are on (you can then see the beam), you can then press the on-flashlight switch LIGHTLY to get the reduced output, strobe, or SOS modes to work. But this only works if the flashlight is turned on. I leave my button on the actual flashlight "ON" all the time, and only turn the light on or off with the pressure switch.

Yes you can use it without the pressure button, I use one on the firearm and one as just a flashlight

Hi, Our flashlight need to be charged under 5 volt (include 5 volt ). if your transformers is under 5 volt (include 5 volt), no matter how many milliamps the plug is,you can use it to charge the battery.

how tough is the lens? I bought another flashlight, it fell 2ft and broke.

I have the flashlight on 3 rifles and have used them extensively on an atv, in and out of vehicles,etc... Haven't had any issues thus far. I haven't dropped one yet, so I can't specifically answer your question, but in my opinion they're very tough for the price. Extremely bright.
