It calculates. I returned because it just had a cheap feel , especially the buttons. The buttons were wobbly and didn't have a good solid feel to them when pushed. It kept feeling like I wasn't pressing the button correctly, even though I was. Felt kind of like a toy, but it's inexpensive.
