Moon Man

I was a little disappointed in the book; it just didn't have the cleverness of some children's books I have read. After reading a review of this author. I purchased it as a birthday gift for my granddaughter who was turning 3. I was not familiar with his books prior to this. I actually tried to purchase it in a local bookstore, but they had no copies of any books by this author. I suppose that should have told me something right then and there. But, I took the plunge and ordered two different books by this author. I probably will not purchase any more by him - his writing style just doesn't match my taste in children's books.

If I were a children's author--I'd be Tomi! Beautiful art and fascinating story-your kids will love it--my fav is THE HAT--get it if you don't already have it--

this book is special. It is a bit sad but kids might not realize that. It is nonetheless a memorable story that stays with you. The colors and the drawings are like nothing you've seen before. The words are perfect. and it rings true.I wish there could have been a happy ending though...but it's good this way.

My 2 year old grandson loves this book and now understands what a quarter, half and full moon is. The writing may seem more adult than for his age but he loves me to read it word for word.

Ungerer introduces kids to haters and fascists who victimize I kind and gentle man who wants to be free and loving. But this little man has a power that he can use too be free- he can disappear into nithingness and reappear whole again! Oh, how I wish I could do that!

Another Tomi Ungerer delight! Our whole family 2 - 72 became enchanted with the Moon Man and his sad experience on earth. Our two year old spotted the moon man in the sky many afternoons and early evenings. We still talk about him months later

grew up on this book and so did my children now the GK, wonderful stuff here.

This was one of my all time favorite books as a child. I can't wait to share it with my friends' kids when they come to visit!

Lovely book with beautiful illustrations and a charming story too. It's nicely printed, with good quality thick paper; the large format suits the story well. It's a great art to come up with a perfect picturebook. It's easy to confuse simplicity with banality, real emotion with saccarine sentimentality. It's even harder to make a picturebook that satisfies all ages with something to say to everyone without being heavy-handed and moralistic. There aren't that many that really stand out as true classics over the years. This is one.

A wonderfully written and illustrated book with a thought provoking message.

This book, was my favorite book as a child. As a grown up, I decided to buy it again, since I had lost the old one to time. Now I read it in a very different way, but still enjoy it so much. Wonderfull illustrations and colouring. A treasure.
