Good LEDs, bad cabling and switch
Summary:For the price, I would expect a MUCH better-constructed device. A much better option is to get another 6500k USB strip like this: Luminoodle Bias Lighting for HDTV - USB LED Backlight Bright Normal White Strip for Flat Screen TV LCD, Desktop Monitors ... and pair it with a switch like this:https://www.amazon.com/JBtek%C2%AE-Raspberry-Arduino-Female-Switch/dp/B00UR321B6/ref=pd_sim_267_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=41gf2YVj7XL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL320_SR320%2C320_&psc=1&refRID=9FZ14TPNDHX134XXTZQ4The Good:This LEDs on this kit are good quality, and they're pretty close to an ideal 6500k. The brightness levels are great for a tv which is about a foot off the wall. I can't complain about the performance of the actual LEDs.The Bad:The cabling is thin and overall construction feels cheap. The switch box connections started to die for me after about six months, and now only works when the connections are held together with my hands. This basically renders the unit unusable. At this price point, I'd like to see sturdier construction, and maybe a dimmer as well.

Works like a charm
Using the Medium kit on my 65" Sony X930c. The color is a bit cooler than I hoped, about 6000k, but still does the job. Without a dimmer it's very bright, but that's what I needed for my particular setup. Easy to install. I expect that after a short time the double-sided tape will fail, but I have a much stronger tape on standby for if/when that happens. Having the on/off switch mounted to the back of the TV makes it convenient to turn it off when it's not needed. Remote control for this would be cool, but not exactly necessary. It's a higher quality ribbon than I thought it would be.

Perfect for our 54" Plasma
We recently switched from incandescent to LED recessed lights in our family room. The LEDs don't dim as low, so watching TV at night was a problem - too bright with the lights on, too dark with them off. This LED backlight strip is awesome. We have a 54" Panasonic Plasma and the strip fits perfectly. Our TV is on a stand sitting on a console (not wall mounted). I read this elsewhere, so I'll repeat it here: Get yourself some blue painters tape to temporarily mount the light strip to make sure it's in the right spot. About 8 thin pieces hold it up nicely (don't cover the LEDs!) so it can easily be moved again and again. Once you have it in the right place, just use the included sticky stuff.I plugged the power into my receiver which has two switched outlets so when the receiver turns on, the strip also turns on. I mounted the included on/off switch behind the TV just in case I want to turn it off.The lights themselves are awesome. Bright and great color balance. Very impressed with the product.Update: I tried the lights out last night, and they are simply amazing. I was able to adjust the placement of them and now there is even light all the way around (moved the strip from the upper 3rd to about the middle of the TV). By using this and not dimly lit recessed light, to colors really pop and the blacks are really deep. That's the first thing my daughter noticed.

DO NOT get the version with a switch---poor quality.
I agree with the other reviewer---the connection was poor and only worked for about 6 months. I taped the switch to the back of the TV and have to mess with it every single time I try to turn on the lights. It blinks on and off and then stays off. Poor, poor connection. On the other hand, we have the other version that turns on/off with the television power on our wall-mounted television and it's fabulous. I'm putting these lights as my under-cabinet lighting, I think, in my new kitchen. Need to get some details from the manufacturer first.

Outstanding backlight kit.......a must have
This light kit installed easily and quickly. I put them on the back of my Samsung 50" LED which is sitting about 15" away from the wall. I continue to be amazed at how much of an improvement this kit has made to my TV viewing.I don't understand any of the complaints people have regarding this kit being "cheap" or "too expensive for what you get". It's an excellent value for the price, without question. What were they expecting from a backlight kit? It's a strip of LED's, a switch and an a/c adapter. It is exactly what you need for a better home theater experience.I almost went the "home made" route with the other guys LED light strip but so glad I didn't. If you're on the fence go for it. I really doubt you'll be disappointed with this kit and the impact it has on your TV viewing. A big 2 thumbs up from me.

An affordable and highly effective bias light - well done!
I've purchased a number of "upgrades" for my aging LCD rear projector over the years, but few have provided such great "bang for the buck" as this LED bias lighting kit. With my viewing room darkened, the effect is dramatic AND highly effective. I'm noticing reduced eye strain, and perceived contrast seems to be improved (albeit slightly).Installing this kit couldn't be easier. The LED light strip is backed with a strong adhesive that holds securely, and the strip itself is easy to place and manipulate (even along my set's curved back). The included wiring and power switch are plenty adequate - all were easy to conceal, and the manufacturer includes adhesive-backed wire clips to aid in keeping the wires out of sight. The only nitpick I have so far is that the product doesn't seem to function unless it's plugged directly into an AC wall outlet - it refused to power up when I first plugged it in to my rack-mounted power center/surge protector. The manufacturer states as much on their website, however, so this didn't come as too much of a surprise. It will work just fine when attached to a basic household extension cord - only surge protectors seem to present a problem. The only other improvement that might benefit this product would be some sort of an IR-controllable switch, though for the price, I'm not complaining. It should prove relatively simple to add such functionality with a third-party solution. Installing this kit shouldn't take you more than five minutes, and the results will be both substantial and immediate. I recommend it heartily.
