Good hand operated machine for the money.
This is a good quality machine for the money. Some components are a little crude, but can easily be polished up/deburred. Easily sews through 3 layers of 4-5oz leather for my projects.

Be patient
I sew leather with a ferdco machine. I bought this to patch shoes. I read the reviews and saw alot of folks said it was junk but to watch the videos on YouTube. I tinkered with it for 10 minutes and was able to sew without any issues. I am going to take some time to watch a video and set it up like they show. Some things could be a little smoother but it won't take much to get there. Sure the instructions are pretty much useless, but there's a wheel and a nut you put on. It's not rocket surgery. Buy it and try it out.I'm having a hard time winding the bobbin because they are small, but I'll build some sort of winder.

Complete garbage!
100% garbage machine. I’m an engineer and have 20 years of mechanical experience and i wasted 8 hours on this machine and it still doesn’t work. The thread in the lower bobbin will not come up and the upper thread is being cut by something sharp inside the needle well. The machine also came covered in oil and parts were broken in the box. Poor packaging and horrible quality control.

Good machine after setting it up!
The only things I found that I didn't like were the instructions and the thread that was supplied with the machine!

Exactly what I expected
I think the sewing machine is a good value for the money. If you have not delt with these inexpensive Chinese products before, you will be disappointed. Be prepared to spend lots of time researching, cleaning, and modifying parts to get fully operating.
