Grey ARC Light Accessory – April 1, 2011

I believe there has been a manufacturing glitch with this product. I bought a verso rechargeable book light shortly after getting Kindle many years ago and it is still working. Always worked exactly as advertised. Then I got tired of waiting for it to charge between readings so I got a bright idea. Why not buy a second one to have as a back up (duh!) Alas, this product no longer works. I just now tried to use theSECOND one I ordered, thinking my first order was an anomaly (hope springs eternal). Alas, same problem. Light only comes on when directly connected to UBS charging cord, then stops when uplugged. No matter how many hours spent charging it. Another return!! Phooey.I ordered a back up Bekin version using AAA batteries. Has 2 drawbacks, which I will post to it's review separately.

Everyone who is not charging device to give advice on how to repair it. You go to the site and buy Sparkfun there 2 or 3 new batteries LIR2477 (sparkfun.com/products/12624). Owned those used in the Verso Arc. 2 or 3 because even new batteries, the quality is not stable and can not buy a new workable. Next, open the unit by removing the 3 screws (1 screw under the rubber gasket), and solder the old battery for a new one. If not work, then try a new battery and so until not find work. This method allowed me to fully recover the device. It took me 2 batteries.

I really love the way this fits on my Kindle and the light it provides. Unfortunately, I've had three of them and none will charge. It works great if I plug it in but it's supposed to be rechargeable. I still use it because mainly I use it to read in bed and I can keep it plugged in. Too bad it doesn't charge, though. The whole reason I wanted a rechargeable is because my batteries run down so quickly in that type of reading light. I probably would have given it one star but I don't hate the light. I really like it a lot. The design is great. Just wish I could recharge it.

the problem is what every body said. it doesn't work unless it's charging. i can only use it plugged in. it's not terrible because i bought it for a little lamp when i want to stay up late at night and not bug anyone else sleeping in the room. so i can keep it plugged in. and in the car. but i can't take it on the train or anything.this is not the first one i bought, and the first one worked great and i would give that 5 stars. i thought maybe i'd get a nondefective one. but i didn't.

These work OK, but using a Kindle Paperwhite is a lot better. The batteries have a limited life span.

Received it and it did not work, after charging, the arm worked but the light did not .the charging light never came on , but yet the arm worked with no light.. owned one before until the light stopped, working after about 2 Years , I would have sent it back but the packaging was distroyed I thought about getting a new one But didn't want to chance that the same problems might repeatI bought because I really liked my original, If Icould l get another with a guarantee it would work I would order an otter

I have used this item in the past (purchased from Staples) and it lasted several years. The light was bright and evenly spread across the page. The port to charge the light wore out and it could no longer be charged. I ordered another light through Amazon, but could never get it to charge. I've contacted the seller and have asked for a replacement. It is a good light, when you can get your hands on one that actually works. I liked that it was rechargeable. So many use batteries.

I bought one and it didn't charge properly. I exchanged it and charged it through my phone "brick" and it charged well and I like it. I bought one for my son-in-law and it didn't charge! He is in the process of exchanging it or returning it. It has very poor inspection in the manufacture. Amazon should see that the suppliers offer working products.
