Farberware Classic Stainless Steel Cookware Pots and Pans Set, 17-Piece

This set is just PERFECT. The ONLY thing that it lacks is we need another skillet that's one size larger because these are small and medium sizes that the set comes with. But that's perfect because we'll still need and use the other two sizes.I've seen some people complain about staining at the bottom of the pans from using them- that's normal, but the staining is MINIMAL. Unless you're really looking, you can't really tell. There's just a slight blue tint on the bottom of the pans on the inside but nowhere else becomes discolored.This set is durable and will definitely last for years. My parents have had a set almost exactly the same, only they got their set in 1977! This is just a newer version of them. The ONLY trouble they've had with theirs (besides the slight discoloring on the bottom from first time use, as with everyone's) is the nobs on the lids have broken off, but that happened just a few years ago. They'd had the set for at least 30 years before their first defect.I am very pleased with this set- from the bowls to the skillets, to the baking sheets, to the pots and pans- and would definitely recommend to others. I will be purchasing another skillet one size larger and I will have everything I will ever need, minus casserole dishes! Mayble they'll add that to a set one day. Then they would have a one-stop baking set! :-)UPDATE 26 JAN 2016: I have been using this set on a near-daily basis for 4 and a half years. I have done some horribly scortching to those poor pots many, many times... to where one almost got thrown away because we never thought the staining would come out. With enough love and elbow grease, I'm still able to use this now clean pan as if nothing ever happened. They are so easy to clean with a good scratch pad and some baking soda and water. The "blue tint" at the bottom of the pans is no longer present, which was only there as a result of the heat and flame of my gas stovetop and having never been heated like that before. Any other "staining" people seem to complain about in these reviews is honestly just the result of not putting a little effort into cleaning them properly. It's been four and a half years of constant use and mine still look shiny and brand new. (Maybe not the baking sheets, however... I don't think anyone can successfully keep those spotless no matter how hard they try or what brand you buy).One thing I have noticed, however, is not only does there need to be a "medium" skillet included but I've noticed that sometimes the 1 quart pan is too small for what I need, but the 2qt pan is too big. I would love to have an in-between there, too. But that doesn't take away whatsoever from the performance and durability of the cookware. I'm still very, very pleased with this purchase.

Just like Grandma used to have!Yes these pots and pans have been slightly updated from their older version, but they still function and clean up just as well. I purchased these because my Grandmother had a set of them my whole life and they were always dependable, and seemingly indestructible. I say indestructible because I have managed to destroy many non stick pots: scratching the coat off and melting the coat of non stick yuckyness- and that literally stinks horribly and ruins the meal and the pot! The Farberware pots and pans are heavy duty, stainless steel, and best of all- there's no non stick coating on the pots to ruin if you leave your beans unattended (in my case cleaning house) with the fire up a tad too high. The lids are not glass, they are also stainless steel. So no dropping lids and stressing the glass which in turn eventually break. These stainless steel lids sit nicely on the pots, the bell shape keeps the moisture in the pot and when the lid is removed the bell shape actually helps with not dripping the condensation on the lid all over the stove.This Farberware Classic Stainless Steel set is perfect for any cook of any age. For young cooks who are learning, for cooks who try to fold the laundry while the beans have 2 minutes left, for cooks who are a little clumsy and drop their kitchenware, and even the older much more experienced cooks who just want a good high quality classic cookware set. Regardless of the age or expertise, this set is hands down the best that is out there for anyone! And I must add- I searched everywhere including macy's, sears, walmart, target, and tons of places online. This was the only set I ever saw that was a great brand, that had stainless steel lids, and sturdy design. After moving out on my own I have ruined 3 sets of nonstick pots. I laugh now because now that I have this set, it will never happen again. The Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 17-Piece Cookware Set is the best cookware set on the market today!

I am writing this review from my husband's account. I have been using this cookware set for almost two years now. I love the mixing bowls and saucepans/pots in this set - they clean well and have put up well with use. Also, a great variety of sizes. But the skillets have been a let down. I have since replaced both the non-stick skillets because the Teflon coating wore off after almost a year of use.( But I guess that is about expected - since I've used these two skillets almost everyday in my Indian cooking). The mixing bowls find a good use in my kitchen since i also use them at times for storage purposes in the refrigerator.The cookie sheet and cake pans also have not really held up well - I do not bake regularly. I must have used them about 20-25 times tops in the last two years and the base/bottom of the pans are beginning to bend now - they don't hold the shape well.Despite a few misses , I consider this a good buy - the sauce pans are sturdy and come with rings ( for hanging) and I am sure I'll get maximum use out of them before I need to replace them.
