Great book..................
This book should be in every home, library and classroom. A relevant, timely and important book that introduces kids age 8-12 to climate change. I really appreciate how positive and action oriented this book is. It is packed with concrete examples of what can and is being done to fight climate change. This book would be a great addition to a homeschool science curriculum.

Kid-friendly middle-grade book explaining problems while also showing how we can help
This book is an excellent example of how kids can learn about problems in an easy-to-understand, highly illustrated format. While these topics can feel overwhelming, the author has done an excellent job providing "How You Can Help" and "How People Are Helping" sidebars throughout. There's so much beyond plastics pollution, deforestation, and global warming (such as coral reefs, tropical cyclones, smog, and more).Overall, I would highly recommend this book for middle-school kids, schools, and libraries. It's comprehensive, user-friendly, upbeat, and has colorful, engaging art on every page.

An Excellent First Look at Climate Change
What is climate change? And what can we do about it?These two questions are at the heart of this book for children.Author Andrea Minoglio examines what has caused the earth to warm and the results of that warming, including rising sea levels, melting ice, and extreme weather events. She also looks at other human-caused problems, including the shrinking of the forests, more and bigger cities, plastic in the oceans, the pollution in the air and water, and too much trash. Our World Out of Balance is an excellent first look at climate change.

This book is important.
I love giving books as gifts to friends with kids, and I think we desperately need to teach the next generation how to care for the planet better than we have. Climate change can be a scary topic even for adults, so I love that this book focuses on positive, actionable changes instead of being rooted in fear. It teaches kids how to love the world and why it's out of balance without causing anxiety! Hopefully, with books like this, we'll be able to create real change.

Very thorough!
My six year old wanted to learn more about climate change and what we can do to reverse it, so after reading reviews on several children’s books on the subject, I bought him this one. My husband refers to it as “the world is ending book,” but our son has learned a lot from it and enjoys reading it. The book does a good job of explaining various threats to the environment, including the human behaviors that got us to the point where we are with them. For each topic, there is also a “what can we do” section that explains how we can slow or reverse the problem and gives examples of steps that are already being taken to address the problem in various parts of the world. These sections will be dated in a few years, but will still provide a good starting point for further discussion with budding environmentalists.

Perfect companion for my 4th grade curriculum
I wish I had this book at the beginning of the school year.I teach 4th grade math and science. While reading the book I found so many wonderful resources for the objectives in NC 4th grade curriculum. The pictures are great, the topics are covered to contain just enough information to not only teach a lesson, but create interest for the students to want to learn more. There is also enough information to integrate some of the science into my math plans.I intend to ask my principal if we can order a class set for next year! I showed it to my co-teacher who teaches ELA and SS. She was so excited she wants a copy as well to use for her lessons. If we can order the set, the students will be very familiar with it!If I could I would give more stars, but alas, I can only give 5!
