Product description Irish pop-R&B singer Samantha Mumba has tried to distance herself in interviews from the likes of her teenage peers Britney and 'N Sync. Unfortunately, her resistance to embrace that side of music has led to an album without a strong theme or voice to distinguish Samantha from the rest of the pack. Her voice is lovely, and songs like "Gotta Tell You," "Believe in Me," and the odd, Bowie-sampling "Body II Body" are frothy enough to pack the dance floor, while "Lately" swoons perfectly and "Isn't It Strange?" has a fantastic, swirling atmosphere reminiscent of a carnival. The rest is filler that always sounds vaguely like some other better-known song. Given stronger songs and production, Mumba (with her exotic looks and strong-but-not-showy vocals) will be a U.S. superstar. Until then, she'll just have to settle for being promising. --Ally Kearney .com Irish pop-R&B singer Samantha Mumba has tried to distance herself in interviews from the likes of her teenage peers Britney and 'N Sync. Her Biggest Single!
As we all know, Samantha Mumba hit the scene in mid 2000. Her song "Gotta Tell You" became one of the most successful songs of the year, not just for US, but for international charts as well. Although she didn't really come back for more success, she came and left pretty big, you would probably also remember her from her top 50 hit "Baby Come On Over". 5/5, SAMANTHA COME BACK! WE NEED YOU IN THE POP INDUSTRY!

Contagious Tune!
First time I heard this song on the radio in my car I had to pull over to call the radio station and write down the title and artist. Samantha Mumba's voice is sweet yet powerful, and the tune is absolutely danceable and fun to hear. Even great to work out to! Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Why do record companies keep wasting time and money with these throwaway pop albums? They spend a ton of money trying to make non-musicians sound good, then package it up, massively distribute it, just for it to go to the bargain bin within a year and ultimately sent back for recycling.Another overproduced, under-skilled artist. Too much digital processing, from the beats right on up to many of the vocals themselves. In the moments when there may be actual instruments used, even those sound mechanized. And when I hear digitally enhanced vocals that are spoken and not even sung, I know I'm not dealing with a top-tier performer.Musically, "Never Meant To Be" is one of the brighter spots, with its acoustic guitar and flute. But, it also sounds like a total rip-off of "Stairway To Heaven"(which itself was a ripoff from Spirit).Youve heard it before and you'll hear it again. The names are different, but because of all the digital enhancements, you'll never notice. I give it 2 stars (barely) only because Ive heard even worse.

I "gotta tell you" that this is one catchy song!
So I enjoyed this little ditty the first time that I had heard it on the radio, but I had passed it off as just another teeny bopper with no staying power. Well, the song has stayed in my mind ever since the first listen and I had been trying desperately to find the remixes. With a little help from a good friend, I got my hot little hands on a copy. Here's my opinion on this disc.1) Radio Edit (3:20) - this is the version that I heard first, and probably the one that you've heard as well. One of the catchiest tunes in a while, with some really nice vocals from Ms. Mumba.2) Milk & Sugar Radio Mix (3:39) - this is the short radio edit of the full "Milk & Sugar Club Mix" - see track 5.3) Teddy Riley Remix (3:45) - thank heavens that this one is a short mix. It's sheer R&B boredom. It doesn't vary too much from the original, except to give it a choppier beat and some rap interludes from Samantha and an unknown guy (Riley himself maybe?). It's not totally horrible, but it's not very original, nor is it my cup of tea.4) Basstoy Mix (9:10) - Mark Picchiotti is the man behind this mix. Previously working on remixes for artists such as S Club 7 ("Two In A Million"), Lisa Stansfield ("The Real Thing") & Geri Halliwell ("Look At Me"), I was expecting a much stronger mix than this one here. This is not a vocal mix, but a total dub. On the plus side, it is a very funky dub and is good for filler in the clubs, but for at home listening, some may get bored with this mix quite quickly, especially if the listener is a Top 40 junkie.5) Milk & Sugar Club Mix (7:56) - quite a good mix of the song. Mike Milk and Steven Sugar pump up the vocals just a tad, add a bouncy house bassline, throw in some pianos and some flamenco guitars to give this track a Spanish sound to it. Solid remix from virtual unknowns.6) Triple D Vocal Remix (4:43) - another R&B mix here, but this one is heavier than Teddy Riley's and slightly better. It starts out with the chanting of "Throw your hands up everybody, everybody in the house throw your hands up", until the vocals come in and then the chanting repeats itself through various parts of the song. For those who are into R&B/Rap styled parties, this one will work for you.7) Mindchime Vocal Mix (6:38) - and they've saved the best for last. I don't have any idea who did the remix work on this one because it isn't listed on the liner notes, but I do know that this is the funkiest mix on the disc. The vocals are about the same speed as the original, but it's had a great housebeat thrown in which includes a killer synth hook, that will get your feet a movin'.Unfortunately, the Sleaze Sisters and DJ Skribble & Anthony Acid mixes aren't included on this disc (I don't know if they're available on cd at all), which is why it loses a star, but this is a very solid purchase! Also be sure to check out "Body II Body" which has the fantastic "Tall Paul Remix", and also look for her new single "Always Come Back To Your Love" - Samantha's shown us that she's no one hit wonder with these two follow-ups.

Nostalgia at it's best.
I can't remember what made me think of Samantha Mumba - her name literally hadn't entered my head since I was a kid, but as soon as I did remember, all her songs came flooding back. After a look on YouTube, I decided to try my luck on Amazon. For under £2, I bought the album that I'd treasured as a kid. The first thing I did when I got it was put it on in the car. It's been a few days now and all the songs have flooded back, I can sing along to them all. I probably look/sound really sad but doesn't everyone love a bit of nostalgia?

Gotta Tell You
Anspieltipps neben dem Titeltrack sind "Lately" und "Til the Night Becomes the Day".
