It's a 1-Ft cable in a 6-Ft box!

Just got the cable in the mail and hooked up my printer and Windows 8 PC but the printer was not recognized. What should i do?

I had the same problem using Win 8.1. Here's what I did to resolve it: 1) Go to Control Panel. Click on Devices and Printers. 2) In the upper left corner click, on "Add Printer". A new window will appear and search for available printers on your system. If your printer is displayed, select it and follow instructions. 3). If not, at the bottom of the "add printer" window click on the arrow indicating that your printer was not displayed. A new window will pop up with a number of options. Select "Add a local printer...." and click Next. A list of printer manufacturers will appear on the left. Find your printer's manufacturer and select. A list of its printers will be displayed on the right. Select your printer and follow instructions. Note: I have an HP-2100 Laser Jet printer. In the list of manufacturers, HP is also listed as Hewlett Packard. You may have to look under both listings to find your printer. 4) Check back in "Devices and Printers" to make sure your printer shows up and is the default printer. Hope this helps.

Parfait !

J'ai acheté ce câble pour brancher une vieille imprimante HP LaserJet 1100 sur un PC récent (sans port parallèle). Windows 11 a détecté l'imprimante immédiatement et a installé le pilote qui va bien. Elle va pouvoir vivre une seconde vie. Impeccable !!!

Amazing. It just works!

Built a new Windows box, and no one uses LPT ports anymore. Well, no one except guys like me who have an old HP6 from 1999. I plugged the printer into the cable, plugged the USB side of the cable into the computer, turned on the printer, and bam, done. I figured that I would at least have to search around for a printer driver somewhere, as I'm running Windows 11 Pro. But I didn't; it just worked immediately, HP6 shows up in Device Manager. Way too easy! To be honest, I wasn't expecting much for the price of the cable. I'm very happily surprised!

Worked instantly with Win11 laptop
