There are so many different DVI ports out there, it boggles the mind. Pay very close attention to the port you're looking to mate this with. Here's what I am using this for. I have a PC with dual-monitor support, and both of those ports are DVI-D (no analog places for the four prongs that are standard on the DVI-I.)This product will allow you to use an older VGA monitor as a second monitor as I am doing, or use it as your primary. It works great, and does NOT require it's own separate power supply, a detail that was missing from this product's description, but apparently required on some other adapters. This adapter is simply plug-and-play.

Works great but you can't tighten the VGA male end to the vga female end with some connectors. the fastener ends just don't reach but even without the fasteners it fits snug enough on it's own. Got the job done.

Does exactly what I needed it to do.Needed to connect a newer GPU (gtx 1060) to an older vizio HDTV tv that had only hdmi and vga inputs. The GPU did not have a VGA output and for some reason the tv and graphic card had a ton of scaling issues with a hdmi cable.This left me needing to convert a dvi-d output to a vga input. This cable worked like a charm.

Works as intended, and does fine converting between modes. It does sometimes have issues with odd proportioned monitors, as the DVI reply it gives back seems to always been a standard 4:9 ratio setting. One WXGA device I have that has only VGA reported back in a way that it had clipping when initially plugged in. Changing the display to fit the actual LCD display however, worked fine.

tl;dr This item is terrible, its rating seems padded by fake reviews, and Amazon should be ashamed they named this product their "choice." Never buy it.An important note before I truly begin: This is NOT a dual-link adapter/converter, despite the pin count (I guess the extra pins are just not connected to anything?). The poorly-written user manual says this is a single-link device. Therefore, it will NOT support most monitors with a refresh rate higher than 60hz. However, it will also NOT connect to DVI-D single-link (18+1 pin) female ports, due to the useless extra pins. It must be connected to a DVI-D dual link or DVI-I dual-link female port.-------I ordered this adapter because my GPU has a DVI-I 24+5pin port and a DVI-D 24+1 pin port, and I only had 24+5 pin adapters, which meant I was unable to consider hooking up a second monitor with the equipment I had. This item was suggested by a more market-savvy friend to solve that problem.It's difficult to express the depth and breadth of my disappointment in mere words, but I think this will suffice: "I should have gone to Best Buy." Now, to explain what went wrong.I connected this device to my GPU's DVI-D 24+1 port and my 1680x1050 60hz monitor's VGA cable. The problems started right away. When I booted my computer, the monitor displayed in greyscale at a fixed 800x600 resolution. Changing settings on the Windows side did nothing.Rebooting fixed that initial issue, but then the next problem hit: the black screens. As for so many other reviewers, this adapter had my monitor turning to black for longer and longer periods of time, only the time-frame was minutes rather than months. Within an hour, the screen simply said "No Signal" and then went to sleep while this was connected. Meanwhile, my old (and I mean very old) adapters this was meant to work alongside worked fine with all cables and monitors I had access to. The problem was this adapter's death. It must have been in a rush to be recycled into something more useful.I was disgusted and went off to do the research myself, which I know I should have done in the first place. Not only did I find that the black-screen issue is well-known, third-party services (and a little viewing of my own) indicated a strong majority of reviews on this product are fake, and that many of the positive reviewers follow bot-like patterns. Particularly laughable was one review attacking some alternative, unnamed Chinese product for being cheap and Chinese, when this product is also cheap (for being an active converter) and proudly declares Chinese origin on both sides of its packaging. Real buyers would see that right away.Overall, I'm deeply disappointed in not only the manufacturer and their practices, but in Amazon itself for making this disgraceful rubbish a "choice" item. I'd give it a negative score if I could.

I purchased a three of these in order to connect multiple PCs to a VGA switch box. They were all working great, until I was rearranging the cables and the vga connector separated from the board it onto which should have been soldered, but upon close inspection, it seemed the solder joint was either not completed, or defective. I have returned the one connector and will likely be ordering another. I checked the other two connectors and they are both secure. Before it detached, it worked flawlessly, and it seemed to work just fine after reattaching to to the board (being very careful to not bend any pins.

IK used this castle to connect between a device (GB GT 1030) and a VGA monitor. Most DVI connectors can use a passive adaptor to get to via... but some lack the pins for it and need an adaptor like this. The pins in question are in the little blade and cross section of the connector.This cable functions flawlessly for what I needed it to do.

So ist es, wenn man eine neue Grafikkarte holt und nicht drauf achtet, welchen Anschluss der Monitor hat..... :-)Nach langer Suche endlich fündig geworden. Der Adapter war schnell da, angeschlossen und funktioniert super. Selten schaltet mein Monitor kurz aus und direkt wieder an (als würde man von z.B. HDMI auf VGA schalten), aber das kommt sehr selten vor und auch lustigerweise bisher immer nur, wenn ich gerade nichts am PC machte. Es kam auch bisher nur 3mal vor und den Adapter hab ich jetzt schon eine Weile. Ist für mich absolut zu ignorieren. Solang es nicht häufiger oder gar beim Zocken auftritt, ist und bleibt alles top.

L'accessorio mi permette di sfruttare la seconda uscita (DVI-D) della mia scheda video integrata (IGPU Intel Sandy Bridge con VGA, DVI-D, HDMI), x pilotare 2 monitor lcd assieme (con cavi vga). Fino ad ora dovevo usare x forza una scheda video discreta aggiuntiva per avere le 2 uscite vga. Adesso ho liberato spazio nel pc x una migliore areazione e silenziosità, risparmiando corrente e alleggerendo la gestione di Windows con meno drivers caricati. Ed è quello che volevo per il mio sistema HTPC : )Per ora funziona benissimo, nessuna perdita di qualità (attenzione: usa la sola frequenza dei 60Hz). Il cavo è robusto quanto basta ma molto leggero e si possono avvitare sia la DVI-D che la vga. Non scalda affatto e non ha bisogno di alimentazione aggiuntiva. Arriva inbustata in una bella confezione a sacchetto con istruzioni e garanzia del produttore (in inglese). La descrizione è fedele a quanto riportato sulla pagina di Amazon.Vale tutti gli eurini che costa (pochi comunque). Ottimo prodotto insomma: sperando che duri nel tempo lo consiglio ad occhi chiusi !!!Consegna rapida e puntualissima da Amazon.
