Popeye Volume 1: Olive Oyl and Her Sweety (POPEYE HC)

extremely funny
this is one of the funniest things i have ever read and i consider myself a tough audience when it comes to humor. somehow feels satirical but timeless. despite the ridiculousness of the characters and situations the strip has a feeling of a lived-in reality that somehow makes it relatable? anyway you should read this, comics don't really come any better

Popeye hits em all.
Early in Popeye's long career. Every panel has Popeye busting someone's jaw. I like the later versions with all the characters, like Bluto,

Great content. Not great kindle format
This being the first Fantagraphics color collection of Sunday Thimble Theater strips featuring Popeye has plenty of early 1930s humor. Popeye develops in this collection into the classic design and character seen in early Fleischer cartoons and in other media. He even eats a bowl of spinach for extra strength near the collection's end.For entertainment value this collection would get 5 stars. One star is deducted for terrible Kindle formatting. Each page has a lot of wasted white space forcing the reader to zoom for legibility.I do own the 1980s Rick Marcshall black and white Fantagraphics collection which included the Sappo topper and titles. Too bad these were not included this time around. One state is deducted for t h e

Una excelente opción para fanáticos de Popeye.
Maravillosamente escrita y el empaque está de lujo. E.C.Segar se luce en estas tiras dominicales de los diarios de 1930 a 1932. Super recomendado.
