I work as a HVAC mechanic. Have used Cooper Atkins products for years. Nice unit for home use.

I had the old version of this thermometer. It only took one battery. That battery would last for a year. One reviewer said that this new version which uses 3 batteries runs through them fast. This one comes with 3 batteries in it and a little plastic tab you have to pull out to turn on the unit. When I'm not using the thermometer, I just reinsert that little plastic tab in back. You just pull down on the center battery and stick it in. You have to leave the back unscrewed, an inconvenience, but at least you're not running through batteries every few months. I don't know why they changed designs, the old one was great.

Awesome product, I use it to scald my breast milk as I have excessive lipase. Easy to use, easy to read. I like the little plastic bit on it as it can be used as a fake unlike cheaper versions of the same thing. I'm a little concerned that the batteries might die as it is a clock that doesn't turn off but its been on for over a week and I haven't had to change them out yet.
