Scares away woodpeckers
I bought this owl because woodpeckers were pecking holes in the side of my house. It's very lightweight so you have to fill it with stones or sand to weigh it down. I used some crushed marble that I had lying around my shed. You have to move the owl around occasionally so that other birds don't realize that it's fake. I move mine about once a week whenever I happen to be on that side of the house. We have not had a woodpecker problem since (it's been several months). However, the owl doesn't just scare off some birds you don't want, it scares away all birds. This means that the blue jays, cardinals, and other garden birds that I actually welcomed into my garden no longer visit, which is sad. There is no motion detection with this owl, that's why I gave a one star rating for that, it's just a static plastic model of an owl

Well-made, and does the job for me
To me, this thing is the right size, and the design of the horned owl has a natural alarm reaction to birds and other prey. You will have to put something in it for weightβ¦(some sand or aquarium, gravel) Because squirrels and other things tend to laugh out loud when it blows over in the wind. Seriously, though it has worked for me and kept away my problem squirrels and disrespectful birds !

Excellent quality
Nice bird. Could have been a couple of inches taller.

Decent
Owl is as described; but, you have to move them around because the birds get used to it being in one spot. I took the plug out and put the owl on T-posts so they will turn with the wind.

No more robins crashing our windows
Rocky (we named it that because we filled it with rocks to weigh it down) has definitely reduced the number of robins hanging around our yard. Looks great in our yard on its stone perch on the border of our patio.

A squirrel's best friend
Local squirrels sit next this and climb on it. I filled it full of little rocks and they even tipped it off the porch railing. I swear I've even seen them give it a hug. Not my intention to give the squirrels an attraction, but it's a handsome owl, so I totally understand.

Helpful
I filled this owl decoy with rocks so it would stand up to wind, etc. and help keep the birds of prey from my backyard. I have bird feeders and squirrel feeders and watched as they were picked off and hauled away by a Hawk. However, since I have had this owl decoy in my yard, I have not seen another. Might be the weather or the owl is a hindrance. Time will tell.

Creepy but it works
Haven't seen a squirrel , mouse or birds in the back yard now for months. The trick is to go out and move it every few days. The eyes are creepy AF, but it's doing the job. You'll need to open up the bottom and put some small rocks in there to keep it stable and upright because it's very lightweight resin. I think it was a good investment.

keeps the flickers off the metal on the chimney
this product works well. filled it with sand and placed it on the chimney where the flickers like to bang their beak till they find a mate and this happening at daybreak is very annoying ..... unfortunately, it does deter other birds from playing in your yard!! but we can sleep soundly now!!
