Mine is slightly different, but it is just a bit shy of 7 1/2 inches.

These cases are made very well. High quality . I use everyday for makeup .

Q: When sitting on a flat surface, how wide is the bottom?

Approximately 1-7/8" wide. I purchased for my makeup eye pencils and really love it. The quality of the case is very good.
