Picking Apples and Pumpkins

I first bought this book for my daughter before she learned to read. It wasn't typical for her library: photographs instead of drawn or painted illustrations, a very straightforward narrative of a little girl's super-fun day with her family. Written in the first person, in the little girl's own voice,it is utterly charming and became a favorite for us. My daughter learned the book by heart, turning the pages and reciting the text as if she were reading it perfectly, from beginning to end, which was a very cute trick at her age.There is no lesson, or moral, or theme...except that going out to pick apples and pumpkins with your family, and then coming home together with your harvest to make jack-o-lanterns and apple pie, is just about the most wonderful thing a little girl--or anyone else--can do on a beautiful autumn day.

A delightful childrens nonfiction story of a family that goes pumpkinand apple picking. Each page has two to three photos which delight the preschool crowd. I bought this book to read to my grandson's 4 year old class and they loved it! A great pick for this time of year (October).

I bought this for my children and would read it to them all the time and of course it was one of their favorite go to fall books . Now that I have grandchildren they want to incorporate this book into their family tradition so I bought them their own copy

Great non-fiction book for a PreK fall theme. Great pictures. Students enjoyed listening to the story as well as looking through the pictures independently in the library center of our classroom.
